The Nest really is by far one of the best night spots in town, honestly if not the best. There is always a great vibe here with the perfect mix of locals and tourists. The staff is attentive and friendly, even when things get crazy (and they do)! Music is live and their set list is a great mix of old school cool (check out owner Kevin Henry late night on the piano). Dinner menu is great, I highly recommend their homemade potato chips! Once you pot you just can't stop! Steaks, fish and Dodis authentic "moms" recipes are fantastic! Best part about the Nest is that it is a locally owned family restaurant and you always see the owners Dodi and Kevin Henry. You can how much pride they have for this establishment and their always ensure that everyone goes home happy, full, ears ringing and delightfully tipsy!

Special thanks to the beautiful owner, Dodi. She always goes out of her way to make sure everyone is happy and taken care of. A special thanks to Rosalee, who is absolutely exceptional! We call her the "Day Maker," because she makes everyone's day! We've been coming to The Nest for years to enjoy the music and atmosphere and recently started dining in their dining room. Their food is the best in Palm Desert! Not only will you receive the best service, but you'll also receive an evening of great music and entertainment and the best food around!

Been here 3 times recently and it keeps getting better! The owners, wait and bar staff are so friendly and accommodating with excellent food and drinks, and if you're in the mood - dancing to live music. We'll be back!...maybe tonight. :-)

Stopped by on a Wednesday hoping for the best. People were having a good time. Definitely a cougar den. If that's your scene, this is the place. Not for me but to each their own.

We had a blast at this place! Made dinner reservations but decided to grab a table in the bar. Good thing we got there when we did. the place filled up by 8. All ages although the crowd skewed older. It was a really fun group and we would go back in a heartbeat. We only got to try a few appetizers but they were pretty good/average.

So we had dinner at one of the more famous places in Palm Springs...actually Indian Wells. If you don't know...The Nest is known as the place all of the "Cougars" hang out. Cougars, you know...older women all dolled up on the prowl. I thought it was a lounge bar place that also served food. Wrong! The Nest is very upscale. Dinner was fabulous...the wine list very good. After we walked over to the lounger area...and wow! It was packed with Cougars! I never saw so many attractive single older women. Of course I was there with my very hot younger girlfriend....but I could that any older guy...or couple could have a very fun time dancinge night away. We did!

Had a great time at The Next last Saturday night. It was our first time there. Our friends suggested we all go there to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were so happy we did so. Drinks were awesome, food was top of the line, service was excellent. I had the wedge salad, salmon and ice cream and berries for my dessert. Our fellow guests had steak and totally enjoyed every bit of their meal. The music at the bar was classic! We even had an Elvis sighting! Can't beat that. Will take our family out when we return next month.

Super menu, great service and just a genuine place to depend on when in Palm Springs. Take the time to enjoy the best local hangout in the desert.

The food is great. The house band kicks ass. The bartenders are top notch. And the people watching is something else. It's a must stop when I'm in the area!!

Owner is super racist mode me and my buddy wait in line for an hour only to to tell us we weren't allowed to go in because my friend was wearing sleveless shirt. The lady with the blond hair supper rude who looked like she was under the influence. Took a cab here for no reason .we had called in before arriving asked if their was dress code they had told us no .don't waste ur time and support a racist disrespectful owner.

Fun energy with solids food. Had a great meal during restaurant week. Although nothing wildly new on the menu, probably little has changed since the 90s, if it works keep doing it. Ps: please upgrade your sound system!

Came here a few nights ago while on a mini vacay and read all these wonderful yelp reviews. My experience was a bit lackluster. The prix fixe menu is definitely a great deal and was what we opted for. Our meal wasn't awful by any means, but it wasn't memorable either. When you go out to eat, you want a meal that is tasty and enjoyable. We could've just eaten at a cheaper place and gotten tastier food. Be prepared to hear very loud women talk about their day once two glasses of wine have passed their lips. It is true what people say about this place.......cougar town usa. Will I come back? Most likely not. Ordered: Wedge Salad: bland Porcini Ravioli: pretty tasty Pork Chop: nothing too impressive. Chicken Piccata: heavy on the wine and not as briny as you'd like it to be. Pina Colada Cake: tastes like vanilla cake with creamy frosting. Nothing fancy Lava Cake: enjoyable, but could be paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream

Had food here early round 4:30. Good happy hour prices, food was good, staff friendly. Came back on Sat night though and place creeped me out. Lots of obnoxious cop energy (think they hang out here) and fair no of older obnoxious drunk women at the bar. To be fair, there were some older good looking women here who were great dancers.. But also a great number of former young republican gals now a lot older.. Still dressed well.. But shallow and pretentious as hell. And the guys surrounding them..ugh.. If you're in the mood to see how older rich republicans turn out.. Here"s your venue to people watch.

This place was hoping on a Sunday night.! Ok so this is probably most of the night life in this area of Palm Desert and maybe the menu didn't really thrill us. (Pretty pricey and limited for a lounge) but everyone looked to be pretty happy and the decor and ambiance are great.

The nest seemed to be the "Happening" spot in Palms Springs and it rings true for our group of 7 girls. As you walk in. you will immediatly be distracted by the wild party from the bar. The crowd was a good mix of silver foxes getting their drank on! Dinner was good, a dish is at an average of $28 or so and it comes with a soup or salad but with a split plate.. you will be charged an extra $5. Bread was toasty warm and the stuff eggplants may be too small to share but def. yummy for your tummy! The waiter accidentally rang out a round of drinks and gave it to us for free, but i felt our waitress was a bit calculative and drank a drink from our table for us and count it on our bill. We didn't cry about the extra drinks she charged us because we got 3 for free but she was a bit stressed out when we noticed an extra $5 was charged on our split plate. principle is principle.

Had an amazing dinner. The Sole Piccata is a favorite! We started with brussel sprouts...so good. The kale salad is one of the best I've had and split pea soup rocked! Service is very good...all in all we highly recommend.

My review is not for the food but for the bar. My friend and I went here with my mom and we had a blast. We met so many interesting people, danced and had a grand ole time. The people are older but it is the desert after all. A must check out if you are in town with friends.

  • Kay S.

Huh....first impression was "strange" when we pulled up in our uber and saw a person dressed as a clown that was apparently there to make tips off drunk patrons as people are leaving. Our server was not friendly at all. We were a group of women out together and did not ask for separate checks but did want to divide the bill evenly and each use our own card. The server was clearly frustrated with us and did not hide it at all. The food was so-so. The only redeeming thing was the bar next door and the crazy people dancing. It was hilarious to watch. On the way out the clown was still weird.

The absolutely best venue in the entire desert offering the most entertaining piano by Kevin and later in the evening by Tim, dancing, very reasonably priced happy hour as well as exceptionally delicious and items on the menu exemplary service in the dinning ever since Dodi & Kevin became owners about for years ago. A must for residents and snowbirds. Bob B.

We will DEFINITELY go next time we're in town! The service, food and environment was perfect! We loved everything about this place. I cant think of anything that needs to be improved. it was really that great. When we first got there we thought it was hilarious that it was filled of realllllly attractive OLD people dancing. As the night progressed, it became to be a fairly balanced crowd. Still alot of older people but they were sooo much fun. We didn't intend on dancing the night away but we couldn't resist!

Very unhappy with this place , me and my buddy stopped by out of town , before we came we called before hand to check on dress code , they told us it's ok to wear shorts and any shirt (casual), wore a tank top because we're in the desert and it's hot !!! I'm not going to wear a full blown Burberry t shirt ... We got here they told us it's not ok , they said they would provide a t shirt for me to wear which I was ok with , asked for bottle service , they were so happy to let me in if I payed to buy a bottle , I'm a guy with a lot of tattoos and I get judged a lot !!! the owner of this place was so snobby and rude , she also was yelling curse words at her bouncer and giving him a hard time .... Hate getting judged and she was doing exactly that ..... Waiting in line for 45 minutes and then at the end was told I could not get in and she did not have a t shirt for me , any time I would talk she would cut me off , no customer service , and shame on the owner don't judge and be racist .....

Well it's defiantly the place to go if you gave died hair and a half your age spouse. The place is jammed at happy hour we came in at 6:15 and sat in the dinning room. We sat and waited for at least 15 minutes before we were offered cocktails. We ordered and waited another 10 minutes to get our drinks . The dinning room wasn't that busy so I guess an untrained staff had to be the answer. We finally ordered and had some nice rolls while waiting for our salads .. Well now it's 25 minutes and still no salads I see our server running around and trying to serve his tables . Not very well I might add. The owner a blond women was walking around talking to tables but for some reason she didn't stop by ours? I guess she noticed we hadn't had any food yet and we've been there an hour. Mean while a band starts up on the bar and it's really loud I mean like we could barely talk to one another . So salad come out and they were God mine a wedge with blue cheese. Entrees I had a sausage pasta and added shrimp. It was good but not great. My friends had a special fish that was good they said Jim Had pasta also and his was really good. I would probably come back for the happy hour but wouldn't eat inside too noisy we should of tried the patio it was a lot more quiet out there. Also my spouse isn't 20 years younger than I

Had such a great time visiting The Nest last night. We were in town from LA celebrating a bachelorette party and let me tell you, the experience was one for the books! We started with dinner, which was delicious, and moved our way into the packed bar where we had great drinks and an awesome time dancing! Throughout the night Dodi, the owner, came to check in on us to make sure we were having a good time! Everything was truly fantastic. From the food to the ambiance. I recommend taking a visit next time you're in the area!

If your in Indian wells and looking for an amazing romantic dinner, look no further! This restaurant has got it all. Friendly staff, the owner greeting you at the entrance and the food is out of this world. Me and my fiancé found this restaurant on yelp and decided to give a shot. Probably the best decision we could have made. So when in indian wells definitely go to THE BEST aka THE NEST.

  • Maral H.

Expensive and ridiculously hyped but the 3 stars are for the food and certainly not ambiance. It's adjacent to a 'club' with really bad music and a bunch of rowdy 20-70 year-olds seeking a party atmosphere, which is fine, but not for fine dining. Had the Calamari Fritti (very very yum) filet mignon (ok) and husband had veal that he liked.

Wow what a place! The food is amazing, service is great, the atmosphere is amazing. We heard great things from people about this place so it's been on our todo list for some time. Oh this place is priceless. The food was really good and the portions are big and the prices are reasonable. The service was also good. We decided to go to the bar after dinner and people watch. The bar is where the scene is, people singing and dancing. Had no clue people of the desert can party like this! The place was packed, they even had a wait outside to get into the bar. Can't wait to go back there again, not only for the food but to hang out at the bar and people watch

Wonderful dinner and club experience ar the Nest. The owner was very accommodating and gracious. The server informed us of the house specialties. The Pacific sole piccata and blackened salmon were awesome. The music was entertaining, lots of audience participation. Our seasoned cocktail waitress is a true professional. We enjoyed our experience!

What's the deal with this place? I used to enjoy going to the nest when I was in town. It was fun w nice people and good live music. When I was in town last week I stopped over with some friends. The staff was rude and service was horrible. I understand that the nest has a new owner as I saw the new awning with their name on it as I pulled up TACKY . I'm not sure if this it the first bar they have owned but I can tell you it definitely the last. It seams as if the owner walks the line picking out people she knows or maybe investors. The rest of the people stand outside in hopes to get into this dump of a club. I'm half tempted to open up a proper night club and show people what a true club is all about. Not some old cocktail waitress that is running some sort of high school click.. That's if u were in high school in the 50's....

My favorite place in Palm Springs. The old school vibe is great and I never mind sitting in the Piano Bar before and after dinner.

This place is like...such a gem. It is grandmas cooking and family owned. I had the Mussaka and a Cesar salad and if you do the early bird, your meal comes with a desert which was a raspberry sorbet that rocked my world. Fair prices and a neat atmosphere!

Great place. Great service. Allison is superb. Fun music. Phenomenal value on the 26 dollar special menu. Salad, entree and desert. The Brussels sprout salad is the best ever. I'd go back again in a heart beat if I lived closer. I'm from Newport Beach and have experienced much fine dining. This place ranks amongst the best values I've seen. You must go. Been there since 1965 and supposedly the rat pack used to hang there.

Nicolas is the best saxophone player ever!! Love him and his dad playing together and Rosalie really makes the difference! Honestly Nicolas on his own takes down a house--seriously--he's an amazing talent--but here in Palm Springs he'll set the mood for your party and then some. Can't wait to see him in West LA closer to home. If you're at The Nest ask for Rosalie--there's no better!!!m

Had dinner here last night and it was great. Good food and good service. Had grilled salmon and also sole Picata. Both cooked to perfection. It has been at least 20 years since last time at the Nest and the upgrade looks very good. .Rating should be changed to $$$. No complains otherwise.

Joined a friend for a private dinner party. Service was excellent, food was good, but the live music and dancing was the main attraction. My night at The Nest started outside as an older patron on his way out asked me, "did you see a clown around here?" My first thought was, "Why? Did you lose one??". Turns out he did...but I found him later. :-) That's just a small idea of the not-of-this-earth vibe at this place. Packed dance floor, live versions of songs from the 70's thru today played mainly for people who grew up in the 40's and 50's, shaking it until they're breaking it, and hooking up (you read that right). Everyone is having a great time, the owners are great, servers good, too and even the bouncers are polite. How can that be bad, right? Oh...and the clown? Not sure how he fits in but I saw him on my way out. Could be he's got those magic blue vitamins? Anyway, go experience The Nest for yourself. It's a good place filled with good people partying like it's 1999. And watch for the clown!

Had reservations bringing 3 kids to a sit down restaurant but the atmosphere was great. The music was loud enough where my kids weren't the loudest things in the room. The owner was quite friendly and brought toys for them to be entertained. We stayed long enough where my 2.5 yr old actually danced with the crowd and waitress. Food was good too. We'll be back to show other people a good time.

clam linguini was a bit salty but their 16oz ribeye tasted good. I asked for medium rare but ended up being a medium-well. Still tasted good. It was loud when we got there. There was a old school dance party going on at their bar side full of old people. It was very friendly environment, but could be a bit too loud for a steak night. Friendly service, definitely.

Such a great experience! At the recommendation of a bartender at the hotel we were staying at, my boyfriend and I decided to try out the Nest on the recent Saturday night. I tried to make reservations online, but when we got to the restaurant, I was told the reservation did not go through. We were told it would be about 20 minutes, so we hung out at the bar for a bit. Now the bar area... It was completely packed for 8 PM! Older crowd, getting their groove on, on the dance floor. Great music was played, and it was pretty easy to get a drink. We mingled with, what would appear to be locals, and people watched outside for a bit. Our reservation was called shortly after, and we began an amazing dining experience. The waiter was nice, and attentive. My boyfriend and I both ordered the three course meal offered. Now I'm a total soup Nazi. The minestrone soup I ordered first,to which I thought I would be disappointed about, was absolutely amazing. I don't know what is in the broth, but it is so tasty. Also ordered were the pork chop, pot roast, and ravioli appetizer. All, extremely tasty and moist. The only disappointment was the desserts. Nothing to write home about.

Exactly as it is named. Young bird comes and is picked up by the older wiser ladies! Ha! Food was good, steaks were cooked perfect, sides and salads as five star steakhouses come and the people watching was best dessert! My husband about 37 yrs old and was fresh meat to the older silver studded ladies... Will be back place is too fun

  • Lila L.

I've been to the nest a couple of times. It is a fun place to go to dance and people watch. The food is ok, it's nice to go a little early and eat first. Later in the evening it becomes a night club situation with doormen, line, etc. It is primarily and older crowd with exception of some cougar hunters... I'm embarrassed to say that two of my out of town guests drank too much and were embarrassing, however the staff was very gracious. All in all a fun place to go on occasion.

    (4)
  • Alejandra M.

For the price I would go somewhere else for dinner. Ordered the ribeye medium and it was almost well done. The waiter never came back to check up on us. We had to chase him for everything. The cream of asparagus was very nice and creamy but other than that. It is mediocre!!!!

Great Food, Great Service, Great Prices, Great Music, Great Atmosphere. I stumbled onto this restaurant at 10:30pm my husband and I were hungry but most places were closed. There was a line for the Piano Bar; however after advising them we were there for Dinner they sat us right away. We had a 3-course meal for $25.95 which included a delicious 6oz steak. The staff were all great very fun and polite. The music from the piano bar spilled over to the dining room which created a lovely atmosphere.

Stopped by on a Sunday night to enjoy a cocktail and meet some friends. The bar/dance area was much smaller than I thought it would be. Theres a fun little group that plays live music that also plays at Jackolope on Wednesdays. It was a lively place with friendly service. The restaurant looked like it would be nice to try. They did have valet service.. All and all just not my scene even tho it is a local hang out. Kelly W.

Four stars because the food is excellent. Dodi and Kevin, formerly of Palmer's, are doing their best to keep this place running like a well oiled machine. Having said that... 1. Kevin needs to be playing and singing at peak hours. The pasty white dude with the facelifts is a better than mediocre musician. He's got his shtick here down pat. But Kevin has lots of soul and for us self proclaimed music aficionados, Kevin's sorely missed. Put it this way, coming here after the jazz at Vicky's is like going from quantum physics to basic algebra. 2. Ditch this enormous big screen TV in the dining room. This isn't an LA club though you do get your fair share of LA assholes out here. I feel bad saying this because I'm sure they spent a bunch of dough on it. BUT, put up a huge TV and people will watch that and not engage with others. Take it down post haste. 3. More room is desperately needed round the dance floor. I mean it's nothing but assholes and elbows. No space at the bar... I mean none. Solution? Tear out the fake grand piano and just get real and use a fancy keyboard with the grand piano sound. To summarize, I like the Nest. It's the best game in town. But it can get better. Have a great summer y'all.

Decided to come here for my bday this past weekend & absolute loved it! Dinner was exceptionally delicious & I really love the band in the lounge bar area truly amazing! Can't believe I've missed out on the nest this whole time! I can't wait to go back again & have a great time!

here is my review...wow. that's it - just wow with a side of yikes. definitely a great place for singles - for maybe over 40 singles especially. did not try the food, but i hear that it is pretty good. drinks were good. CROWded - music was ok. very popular among the locals. it is a must go, though. it's like a local older crowd landmark that is a mandatory rite of passage :)

Fantastic, that is the only word needed to describe this restaurant! went to dinner here with my coworkers on a Monday night and Dodi the owner went out of her way to make us feel welcome and have some fun as well. We ordered some apps (bacon wrapped figs, calamari, and the chips) and excellent way to start dinner. All of the food was amazing, seriously could not go wrong with any selection. Stayed later for the live music where it was dancing and drinks. Stop in and say hi and enjoy the atmosphere, I know I will be back soon!

Nothing like it anywhere but the desert. It is a throwback to the college mixers of the sixties but for old people. Worth it just for the best people watching ever! Men with dyed hair and face lifts and old broads stuffed into leather with a lot of cleavage. You can actually dance and the drinks are stiff and dinner portions huge. The food is actually pretty good. Old fashioned Italian but one really goes for the fun!

Great bar area that must be experienced at least once. Fridays and Sat. get crazy busy. Good live music and great people watching. Sunday nights are best. Not crowded and the owner plays w the band. Any age is comfortable here.

This is place is a "must" go to while in the valley. Whenever people ask "what's there to do" (in the evening) - I always suggest this place. For some it's a hit or a miss. If you're not into the live music or dancing - then I don't suggest this place. The restaurant is cute, but everyone goes for the action in the bar area! The crowd is definitely older than I am, but it's still fun to have a couple cocktails and watch others dance. But be warned - you might get dragged out to dance (all in good humor). One of the musicians is Kevin who is one of the owners, along side his wife who holds the fort down. Great drinks. Good vibes. Oh and the food is pretty good too! If you get a little too tipsy to drive, there are always cabs waiting out front!

If you are 40+ years old this is a great spot. My wife and I were celebrating our 35th anniversary and had dinner here. The food was great as well as the service and atmosphere. We were treated so well by everyone and really enjoyed our evening.

From the very beginning I felt very welcomed! The bacon wrapped figs fantastic! The wine incredible! If you want a fantastic meal and live music after, eat here! Also we sampled all the desserts, fantastic!

Wow! What a place! The bar side is hoppin with live music, packed with everything from rich old golfer guys to young girls in Vegas dresses. The dining room was awesome. Very cool mix of people, from dressed up to shorts & flip flops. 5 star food and service all the way! The food came out beautiful, perfect and piping hot (something that doesn't always happen these days). And although it sounds a little pretentious-food-critic to say, the Cesar salad was dressed perfectly - ever single piece of lettuce cover, lightly, with dressing! Eaten a lot of places around the world, but no where so weird, cool and delicious rolled into one! And one last word, don't argue, just order the cabbage rolls please (as an appetizer), they were amazing!

Great food. I had the blackened salmon and it was perfectly prepared. Risotto was a little stiff, but flavor profile was exceptional. Good wine selection and although service could be quickened, or server Heidi was very accommodating. Would go back definitely.

Beside the fact that I felt like I stepped into a Stephen kings story where u check in but can't leave. The spinach artichoke dip was a layer of cheese between two layers of oil. My rubbery chicken on my wilted slightly brown lettuce was only under shadowed in my Cesar salad by the clear tasteless (except salt) dressing and my four microscopic crotons. The music was nice if u could hear it over the waiters trying to be heard by the 80 year old clientele.

Me: "I want to go check out The Nest after dinner tonight." Wendy: "Isn't that where all of the cougars go?" Me: "No. It's where the cougars' MOTHERS go!" In all seriousness, I read about this place here and on Trip Advisor. My wife and I love all live music, and the Nest has it seven nights per week. Since we were staying nearby, we had to check this place out. Parking was simple. Door guy was cool. No cover on a Sunday...for the win! Service was very attentive. Once inside, we were immediately greeted by Rosalie, the cocktail waitress, who let us know that she would have a table available for us in a minute. Looking around, definitely a somewhat upscale 60+ crowd, as expected. World-class people watching. Beer selection was limited and $6 per bottle. Piano player came back on "stage" after about 10 minutes and did a decent job with some '80s standards as well as accompanying a 70-something who sang a Sinatra tune. You're never quite ready for Harpo The Clown harpotheclown.com to randomly stroll though. Overall, worth checking out.

Well what can I say about this place that hasn't already been said. First off, I'll say that if you haven't been here, you need to go. Seriously, just go, you will not be disappointed. This was our first time going, but we were made to feel so at home, it may as well have been our 100th time. Nest is split into two areas, the dance floor and the restaurant. The music from the dance floor doesn't overwhelm the restaurant side at all, which is awesome if you just want a nice evening out with your gal. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxing and the lighting is nice The food is OMFG perfect. Rather than reading over the menu, we just got their three course dinner. My wife ordered the wedge salad, filet and cheesecake and I the ravioli, schnitzel and carrot cake. The filet literally just melted in your mouth like butter and the schnitzel was perfectly thinned and very tender. Whoever their chefs are deserve the highest of fives. The owner, Dodi, was at the door greeting nearly everyone that walked in. I don't know much about her, but based on what I saw, I can tell that she runs a tight ship, I mean she goes up to every single table to check on you and the service you're getting. It's easy to see she really cares about the customer and their experience. But it's also apparent that the wait staff enjoy working here. Seriously, if you've never been here, you need to go. 5 out of 5 stars easily.

The Nest is a local Palm Desert restaurant, bar, and night club that is gaining International Fame. From the streets of Cannes, to the House of Lords, people all from all over are talking about The Nest. It probably has the most eclectic clientele of any place on earth. Its ages 21 to 101. but age is irrelevant here because everyone is enjoying every minute of dinner, drinking, and dancing Or just dinner Or just drinking Or just dancing. The Nest Nightclub is just plain fun. Wish there was a Nest LA. Everything goes here and everyone is comfortable here--so don't question it, don't analyze it, don't call everyone you know--just go! Go and dance your A off!

What can I say but an excellent evening. We celebrated our anniversary at The Nest on suggestions on friends even though we are locals for years. Great service, great food, loved the live music! They made our night very special and I am so grateful for that A+ effort from your staff. Thank you! Many more to come!

One of the most popular spots in the desert, and for good reason. You'll never leave this place without having a memorable time. If you're in your twenties, or in your 70's, get ready for a great time! The only downside to this place is the line out the door to get in later in the night. Their food is pretty good, their drinks aren't too pricey, and they have a vibrant live music scene, which is an understatement. This is a place worth stopping by!

Let me first say that I'm a local and love The Nest. It's almost always packed with a wide variety of people of all ages and is a GREAT place to hang out. My only issue is with the sound from the live music. Not the music itself, just the sound from the speakers. I'm a musician and sound engineer and every time I've been there the system is squealing with feedback all night because the treble is turned way up. The last couple of times I was there I brought earplugs and it was much better, but should I really have to do that? It's obvious that whoever is controlling the sound has hearing loss (I'm not saying that to be mean because I've seen it before.) Anyway, aside from that one issue, The Nest is the best!

People here are obnoxious! The food is mediocre and overpriced. Our waiter messed up out order twice and was rude about it. I won't be back for sure. I should have read thoroughly on yelp that there were more complains about this place. How it received a 4 star rating is mind blowing.

We had the most amazing time last night! It had great reviews so we went in. It was late and we were worried the kitchen might be closed but they sat us right away. We had three kids and it was my sons birthday. There was live music and a really fun vibe! The hostess was so sweet! She even gave my son a present for his birthday. They sang him Happy Birthday! It was a night we'll never forget. The wine was great! The food was great!

We were lucky enough to go to the Nest for dinner last night while in the desert. I had the Chef's Favorite: Parmesan Encrusted Sole on Penne Pasta, Artichokes, Asparagus, Lemon Sauce and my husband had the Dodi's Pasta: Fresh Tomato, Hot Italian Sausage, Olive Oil, Garlic, Basil and Parmesan. It had been 24 hours and we are still raving about our dinner. If you are going to the desert you have to make it to The Nest for a meal. The food is great and then if you want the live music in the bar is wonderful. This place really is hopping and everyone has a great time. We can't wait for a chance to go back again and enjoy the great food. This is the place to go for a meal that you know will be great and service that is wonderful!!!!!

The Nest is a MUST when you are in the desert. Not only was the food fantastic but the service was above and beyond! The menu has something for everyone from homemade pasta and kale salad to escargot and bacon wrapped dates! After dinner grab a drink at the bar and listen to the live band, guaranteed fun time. I will definitely be back here next time I'm in Palm Desert. Hats off!!!

My wife and I felt a little out of place here with the older crowd. Perhaps that's the folks who show up on a Monday night when the piano player is off. Bonus though on Sunday and Monday nights is 50% off most bottles of wine which we did take advantage of. Our dinners were well prepared and quite tasty but I thought a little over priced at $28 each. She enjoyed a filet mignon goulash and I had a jumbo sized chicken parm dish that I would have liked to have had more pasta with and less chicken. Our server was helpful with recommendations and attentive but my water glass was running on empty most of the night which I hate.

Hands down the best place in the desert, the food is spectacular, the staff and owners make you feel like family. I would highly recommend this place for food and drinks

I don't know if I can accurately review The Nest, as I JUST ate a full-on Mexican dinner and immediately came here to eat a SECOND dinner, but here goes... Pros: -Bread and butter was GOOD. Bread was warm and moist and butter was light. Would actually like to munch on this right now. -Cocktails were well made. Ordered my go-to drink, rum and coke with standard house rum. Usually, I feel like the rum is way too strong because I actually prefer coke with a side of rum. However, their rum and coke was just right. -Gluten-free chocolate cake was HUMONGOUS! (A good thing.) It did taste a little on the sweet side, but I do feel like it is really wallet friendly given how big the slice is! More than enough to share amongst six people. -Live music! And, it was good! The music itself was GREAT. I have come to the realization that house music and hip hop (read: Vegas scene music) is not really my thing. The Nest plays a combination of 80s hits and Top 40 mellow hits. It's a blend of classic pop and pop/country, which I loved. It appeals to both the younger and older crowd which is awesome. -In retrospect, I really appreciated that we were able to make dinner reservations and eventually make it to the dance floor. It was a pretty entertaining and...interesting...night in Rancho Mirage. Cons: -Line to get into the dance floor on a Sunday night was LONG. Long as in from the door to the street. Good thing we didn't have to wait in the line because we had dinner reservations. -Crowd can get creepy. And by creepy I mean creepy, older men. I have no problem with innocent dancing without connotations, but when they start grinding and being suggestive, that is a definite no-no. And this certainly happened more than once in a night. -Calamari was meh. Don't get me wrong - it was good, but if I were to be overly critical, I do feel like it was not flavorful enough, and that it could be more crunchy and less soggy. -Calamari "salad" was good in that it was standard caprese; however, tack on the word "salad," and I am not a fan. Why? Because it was not a salad! It was just tomato slices, mozzarella, and basil bathed in balsamic vinaigrette. I do have to say that the mozzarella was incredibly soft. -Sorbet with fresh berries (blueberries and strawberries) was good, but a tad sweet for me. Neutral: -There is a clown outside! His name is Harpo! So random! (Yes, I took a picture with him.) -Crowd is mixed - you do get a good mix of races and ages... Take it as you will. -Family-run business, but it definitely does not feel like a mom-and-pop-shop. Kinda cool, really.

The nest is a cool place to go and dance and have a drink although I had an altercation with some guests and a bad experience one time it was not the bar owners fault or the bars fault so I would recommend going if you like to have fun.

Great food, but terrible service from management. I understand our party was well under the normal age range for the restaurant, but that is no reason to be treated poorly. The hostess, which I believe was the owner by the pictures on the wall, was terribly rude, completely ignoring our reservation, then seating us without menus. Our waitress, Shannon, was very nice and apologetic. Will definitely not be visiting the Nest again.

We had crab cakes plus salads [wedge and pear) plus asparagus. Everything was delicious. The owner was so kind. We walked in without reservations and she greeted and welcomed us warmly. She asked where we from and how we heard about it. We mentioned yelp and she was so happy she bought us a round of drinks. The place was hopping. There was live music at the bar and people were dancing and having a good time. I'm not sure about the $$ rating. Entrées start at $28.

I never write reviews but due to the terrible treatment I received there I feel compelled to write this review. This is a terrible place. Customer service is nonexistent here. Not only is the food not good -- the club that starts later is bad. The owner and bouncers think they're guarding some cool club in New York City or Los Angeles and you have to compete with 80-year-olds to get in. The owner is extremely rude. The fact that there's nowhere to go in this town makes this a busy spot but unless you feel like being disrespected and rude to by the owner and bouncers -- don't go and tell your friends to stay away from this place!

Definitely recommend checking this place out. Great food, good live music and a mean Manhattan. There is a real attention to detail here from the motif to the salad temperature. Do yourself a favor and stop by, you won't be disappointed.

We just finished a fabulous dinner at the nest. Romantic with a great bottle of Rombauer Zinfandel. I had the Sea Bass& Scott had the tequila lime salmon. The best meal we ever had. Now we are enjoying the chocolate layered cake. OMG! And great service

Man-O-Man what can't I say about the Nest. Me and my now fiancé came across this Gem by accident a few years back. We came in for a few drinks before last call, and were greeted at the bar by our now Favorite Bartender in the desert Andy. We make THE NEST a destination every time we do our Staycations in Palm Desert. We love it, every time. when we bring in new friends they are shocked at first, but leave amazed into the night. Good food, great drinks, friendly staff and best of all great people watching! Don't dis it until you try it..you wont be disappointed in the night. Dodi(owner) will greet you at the door and don't forget to say Hi to Andy at the bar!

Many years ago we used to spend a lot of time in Palm Desert and this was one of our favorite hang-outs. We finally returned last Thursday night, with a party of ten, and were not dissapointed. Definitely five stars! The drinks were great - these people really know how to make a Perfect Manhattan and a Dry Dirty Vodka Martini! They also fix a fantastic Escargot appetizer. Stay away from it if you are a vampire or have a problem with garlic. Not everyone in our group eats snails, but everyone dipped into the garlic butter sauce and licked the plate clean! We also had an appetizer which they call "Adriatic Sausages" - they are called "Cevapcici" by the Serbs, Croatians, etc. They make theirs with beef and spices (others use lamb & pork as well) - these were great - very light and tasty, served with Pita Bread, chopped raw onions and a red pepper sauce. Generally I would not have something in a restaurant that I make well at home, but I would make an exception for these guys. Between the ten of use we had salmon, stuffed cabbage, steaks, knishes, goulash and more. Not a complaint. Many items from old family recipes, and everything flavorful and delicious. Could eat anything on the menu. Our service was excellent, but I can't remember the name of the server: Rigo? (memory is the third thing to go and I can't remember the first two...). But the hostess and everyone else was great as well. This place has a large bar with a dance floor. We got there at 6:30, by 7:30 it was packed. We left a little after nine and I doubt that anyone missed us. So if you want a place with great food, service and drinks, this is it. It is also a fun place to dance and people watch! Will be back.

I just had a wonderfully memorable New Years Eve celebration at the Nest! We're here from Ohio and couldn't have chosen a better place to ring in the New Year. The food was excellent, the ambiance amazing, and the entertainment some of the best I've ever heard in a restaurant/night club. I'm already planning my next trip back to Palm Desert and I'll definitely be making a reservation

I was trying to figure out why the reviews are skewed so high, and then it dawned on me: this is an old-person's restaurant. We were the only 30somethings in the dining area filled to the brim with octogenarians practically dripping with gaudy jewelry and floor-length gowns. It was...odd. If you're reached retirement, then this is the place for you. For me in my mid-30s, this place felt odd, like I wasn't quite welcome, or at least didn't fit in. Our table all did the Early Bird menu, and I settled on Dodi's Pasta which is spaghetti in an olive oil and garlic sauce with spicy sausage. The sausage was good but I didn't really dig the spaghetti. The wedge salad was absolutely drenched in dressing but was indeed tasty. I had the carrot cake for dessert and felt overall that at $17 it was a good deal. My wife had their stuffed eggplant which she enjoyed. What keeps me from recommending it to my fellow genX-ers is the overall vibe, which I would blame more on the customers than the restaurant. I mean do you really need to wear a $900 gown to a $20 dinner?

Oh my God!!! Just went last night as a night out for our Just Girls weekend. I have been coming to Palm Desert for years for golf and other getaways and can't believe I never heard of this place!!! The bar scene here is one of the most fun, eclectic places I had ever been to. The dance music is crazy fun 70s to present, a bit DJ mixed with karaoke. The crowd ranges from 20 something's up to party people in their 70s and everybody dances with everyone! Locals, a lot of Botoxed pretty people and a total meat market for total people watching! Everybody is there to have a great time and have fun. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting. Palm Desert. The most fun I have had in years! I'll be back!!!

Was at the nest a couple weeks ago with friends from So Cal and had a blast. Great old school music, good food, dancing, and drinks. Great safe vibe. This is not a rave neon party place, but a cool place for young professional adults to relax and have fun. This is the place to have a night of fun. Owners were working the tables and floor and I will be back. My 1st time and I will be back. Great place and nice people. Fun night. Thanks

This is a hidden gem, and I kinda hope it stays that way a bit because I wouldn't want it to become so crowded as to change its friendly, neighborly personality. I haven't eaten at the dining room restaurant, as I can't seem to tear myself away from the bar/dance floor area, but there are plenty of dishes to choose from on the Bar Menu. My priority was to check out the live music here, and it did not disappoint. THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT MY FAVORITE LIVE MUSIC VENUE EVER! I discovered it a couple years ago, mentioned as a "piano bar" in one of the local visitors magazines, and each time I and my husband or sister go out to the desert, The Nest is a required stop. We are at the desert 4-5 times a year. Calling it a "piano bar" doesn't begin to do the place justice. There's a happy hour, but when that's over, I still can get house wine for $6 a glass. They do not gauge on their drink prices; all are reasonable. The husband-and-wife owners (I learned their names on their web site) are wonderful. This is their place, they are on-site, and their care and concern shows. I have observed the lovely Dodie on numerous visits, wafting through the crowds, engaging the customers, and at the same time, gently keeping an eye on things to make sure everything is going merrily, women feel safe, and no one has gotten themselves overserved. Her handsome husband Kevin is a smiling, talented musician who plays the keyboard and sings like the dynamic professional he is. My favorite music to dance to is R&B, soul/funk, blues. I get my share of it at The Nest, especially when Kevin is putting on the show. But he is so talented that he can perform requests as diverse as Rat Pack-type tunes, to country, disco, straight-up rock & roll; current hits; you name it. Everyone gets to hear music they like, and Kevin does it willingly and proficiently. When you're lucky, Kevin is joined by other talented musicians, to add even more depth to the music. When we were there last Monday, he had a guitarist, a sax/flute player, and an incredible drummer. AND THERE'S NO COVER CHARGE OR MINIMUM DRINK REQUIREMENT!! I can't get over the kind of talent I get to see for no cover. Plus, once the music starts, they do not take a break. I don't even know how they can play nonstop for 4-5+ hours, but you never have to wait for them to come back from a break. It's just an amazing thing. It's also a very inclusive, casual atmosphere. No "attitude." You'll see people in their 30s to their 80s, cycling in and out throughout the evening. Even if you don't want to dance, it's a great people-watching place while you're listening to the fantastic music. Attractive and friendly servers take good care of you, especially our favorite, Jessica. They also have attentive but non-bullying "doormen," who seem to genuinely care about the condition you're in when you leave, and will summon a waiting cab in a second to take you home if need be. Obviously, I am taken with the place. That's why I don't want it to change. Go there for an excellent time, tell your friends about it, but don't tell too many of them, for my sake.

Great dining experience! No corkage fee on Tuesdays and tasty pre-fixed meal. Had wedge with house made blue cheese dressing, tenderloin perfectly cooked and tasty gravy side with mashed potatoes. Dessert was homemade carrot cake! Service could not have been better and our entire bill was under $60 for delicious steak dinner with salad and dessert!

Always have a good time here. The employees always take care of me which makes the experience that much better. Theres a live bad/dj.. not your typical club vibe since there is a restaurant next door. Also the crowd is very random. From cougars to celebs to people on dates. Cant wait to go again.

We had a party of 16 on a Saturday Night! We called ahead and made reservations and they sat us right away. They even gave each couple their our bill. I freakin' love The Nest! It's been around for a long time. A desert staple. Even though it says "one check-in", I've actually been several times... even as a kid in the 80s. The food and service has been consistently good every time I've been here. And the piano bar is a hoot with such a diverse crowd.

We went to The Nest for dinner and to hang out in the bar for dancing. Restaurant: The service was great and everyone was appropriately attentive and friendly. The food was just average (hence the 3 stars). I had the Filet with Shrimp. The steak was undercooked and a little on the small side. The shrimp was completely dry and over cooked. The vegetables were average. My wife had the blackend salmon which was much better and cooked perfectly. I was jealous. The big tv in the dining room was distracting and I felt bad for the couple sitting directly under it...they must have felt like everyone was looking at them. Bar: This is the spot for people watching. There were two bachelorette parties having a great time. But there were also a lot of weird, creepy people. We didn't feel totally comfortable as the place was packed and their wasn't much room for dancing. The place had cougars and sugar-daddy's and everyting in between. Glad we went there once, but probably don't need to go back.

I've been to The Nest several times for business and pleasure. The owners are gracious and I can't say enough of the attention they give to make sure patrons are enjoying themselves. I visited The Nest with my beautiful mother and daughters last weekend. My daughter is 21, my mom 71...I could not wait for them to experience the legend of The Nest. We were seated in the dining room for cocktails which was actually nice and social. Our waitress (in the pink dress) provided the worse service you could ever receive for a simple 2 rounds of cocktails. Further more, she took my credit card and sat it on a table in the busy dining room on top of stack of cocktail napkins. I literally watched her walkaway from it. Eventually, I went over to retrieve it. She circled the room a few more times and was argumentative when I brought to her attention it concerned me my card was left unattended. An astonishing and embarrassing lack of professionalism and ethics on her part.

We went for dinner last night around 8pm and the bar area was hopping already. There were no lines to get in, although a long line the night before (so we left). I ordered the chicken piccata and asked for it to be gluten free. They were more than willing to accommodate. It was a big serving and very good. My date ordered the shrimp scampi, and she loved it. Afterwards, we went to the bar/dance area and it was packed. The live band was jammin and played a variety of top hits. Some of the guests had been there since 7pm and told me they stayed until closing at 2am! In general, folks were friendly and drink prices were as expected. We had fun dancing and watching everyone else having a great time. Would definitely return!

My husband and I were in Desert Palms for the night and found this place on Yelp. We saw the great reviews and decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did! The owner, I unfortunately didn't get her name, was very accommodating and welcoming to us. She was really sweet. My husband ordered the Snapper special and I ordered the Blackened Salmon. Both were very good! Service was good. Fun atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

maybe it is me but i was disappointed. i've heard about the nest for years and have been encouraged by friends to try it finally decided to go. the interior of the dining room has a '70s feel but the tables and booths are pretty well separated so there is a sense of privacy and intimacy at the table. it was not full of people during our meal. we sat at a booth under a giant screen showing fish swimming by. we were cautioned that the music could be loud but we left before the music started and missed the whole dancing thing. service was ok, a bit sullen rather than warm and welcoming. but it was the food that was most disappointing. what had been touted to me as the best restaurant in the desert presented me with bland non ad dente spaghetti, indifferent bolognese and parmesan that looked like it came out of a can. my wife had the sole and totaly didn't like it. i found it acceptable. the highlight of the evening was the rolls and butter. but that didn't justify the hgh prices on the menu. i am told the dancing is really fun. perhaps next time.....

This place was by far the best bar we went to the entire time we were in CALI. The bartenders Leo and Andy were AWESOME! They made us feel right at home and were fast and efficient to keep all the customers happy. Definitely can't wait to visit them when we go back!

The Nest is so much fun. I went last night for my first time with one of my girlfriends. We are 22 years old, so we were easily the youngest people in there by like 20 years. It was awesome. The entertainment is unbeatable. The guys singing and playing the piano were so nice and were taking requests from people. All in all it was a very good experience and I might go back tonight! I will go earlier though because there was a line to get in, so plan around that if you do go!

The most unprofessional and embarrassing experience. Inappropriate "doorman" greeting us ladies (on a Monday night) by "requesting" us to drink a glass if water before ordering a drink. Ummmm. Not sure why or what the MO was ....clearly will never return. Sad, as we were on a friends vacation simply trying to have fun. Not recommended!

As you can see I don't write many reviews. After reading Gail B's "novel" and seeing that she took the time to write a piss poor review about one of the best bars in the desert, I feel obligated. I was at The Nest last night and saw what actually transpired. First of all don't slur your words when you order a drink. Secondly don't complain to the bartender (who I have never had a problem with in all my years of being a patron) that he did not put enough liquor in your drink on YOUR FIRST DRINK. Lastly learn how to tip since you have a BILLIONAIRE clientele. Obviously they must not tip you well either. The Nest has been nothing but a staple of the desert since the beginning. I am sorry to point the finger at you Gail, but your vengeful review when you never review ANYTHING warranted a response.

Great place to go party with friends! A little crowded as well as a long wait in line with not so much space to work with once you get inside but overall it's a fun place to be and great people to be around with! If you haven't been there definitely make it a place to check out at least once!

What a blast! Not sure why I never knew about The Nest when vacationing in Palm Desert before. The crowd was great and the music fabulous as well. They had the main piano singer, as well as a drummer and lead guitarist. Then the owner Kevin took the mike with some great tunes--started with Daft Punk, which was unexpected and really fun. The average age is probably about 60, but with the way everyone was dancing they were all pulling out their inner-30-something. By the time we got there the place was packed. Two local woman sitting up behind the band let us share their table--thanks ladies! The crowd is mostly local and really friendly. This place is on my "must-do in Palm D" list from now on.

Was taken to The Nest by a frequent visitor to the Desert area. And you know what kind of place it is when everyone you tell says "Ooooooh, you went to The Nest." with a little laugh. So here's what that means. I guess it is an institution in the area with a history of notables frequenting it. It is separated into a bar and the restaurant with two completely different feels. The restaurant has an upscale, but relaxed at the same time, feel. The bar feels appropriately divey. The hostess was great. Welcoming and inclusive. Our server was efficient and friendly. In the earlier hours it is definitely an older crowd, but gets younger as the time passes. Our dinners were all delicious. The table started with their escargot. I passed on that, but the pesto sauce it was floating in was an amazing dip for their bread. I had a wedge salad (added bacon) and it was very good. I was fortunate to sit next to someone who likes to plate share, and his veal cannelloni was amazing. I had the mom's moussaka and it was also very tasty. Following the dinner we peeked back into the bar and things were just getting rolling. We didn't stay long but apparently its an experience you are supposed to have. Maybe next time.

Being from LA, I'm used to the highfalutin bar scene, both west and east of the 405. The Nest, in comparison, is a breath of fresh air. First off, don't expect an LA experience and you'll have a great time. I went on a Wed night, not knowing what this place was all about. Yes, most of the diners are in their 60s and 70s. Yes, there are cougars who gave us the evil eye. And yes, the music is limited to the DJ singing cover songs. But these retirees have more life in them than anyone my age. The cute old men (and women) were great dancers, and all the patrons seemed genuinely friendly. Bartenders were fun and kept the drinks flowing. Food was mediocre - calamari was too salty. There were some freaky stuffed animals by the DJ stand - I was afraid to ask so I didn't. If you see them, just let 'em be. If you check out The Nest, you're most likely on vacation so just relax, have a drink, and enjoy the desert.

Wish I could give this place zero stars. While the band was great and people were dancing, the employees were the WORST. From the start they had an attitude. They made us wait in "line" when it wasn't even crowded. When it was time to leave, it got even worse. When we exited the bar, there was an altercation between the bouncer and a patron. Instead of just kicking the guy out and throwing him in a cab, the bouncer was trying to get the guy to start a fight. And instead of helping, the other employees were taking pictures and videos. It was AWFUL. Meanwhile, we're standing by waiting for a cab, but everyone is too busy watching the altercation to help us. When someone finally does, he tells us it will be 15 minutes and that we need to move out of the way. At this point we were incredibly upset, so we decided to walk, A MILE, to the hotel. That's how bad it was. And instead of stopping us, they let us walk away. I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE. These people are total trash.

If you want to people watch, this is a great place to go. I give it four stars for that reason. The food was basic and the servers were friendly .

Met up with a friend I hadn't seen in 12 years. Our waitress was amazing as I could not choose between the two nightly specials and she offered: "why don't I do a 1/2 order of both!" What, a restaurant actually wanting to cater to a customer? Food was great and the service special!

Literally worst experience ever. Was shoved into a booth, stuck behind a band and then literally thrown out for being too "young". Ruined my friends bachelorette party. Do not go here if you have any class or want to enjoy your night!

Fun find, indeed! We were greeted, seated, and visited by owner/host Dodi, herself; she made us feel so welcomed with her warmth and friendliness -- and this was only our 1st visit! Service was warm, friendly, efficient, and unrushed. We enjoyed the Baked Artichoke Dip; the Ribeye steak was perhaps THE best we've ever tasted; the Pacific Sole (despite it being described as one of their more popular dishes) was OK; the accompanying potatoes and vegetables were tasty sides. After the dining room, we moved into the bar, where it was, indeed, packed. Sitting at the bartop, immediately in front of the speakers and drummer proved to be exceptionally loud, leaving me with a slight loss of hearing in 1 ear after just a few minutes. Fun and lively entertainment!

Haven't been to the Nest in many years and was pleasantly surprised. The place was packed though we immediately got seated in the restaurant for our dinner . Our waitress Angela was very attentive and an exceptional waitress. Everyone at our table loved what they ordered. I highly recommend the seared sole- it was very loud in the bar so we didn't stay long for the entertainment - which was disappointing since that why've chose to go there.

Always a great time at the NEST. The food is excellent and the service was superb. We went there on a Wed night so there was no corkage fee and we took a nice bottle of wine. After dinner we went into the lounge and Tim started to play. Kind of slow but this was a summer Wed night and to be expected. Tim knows what the crowd wants to hear and never disappoints. We had a great time dancing to the oldies. Can't wait to go back for more fun, you can't beat it

I come here every year. Incredible music and people watching, and food that's better than you'd expect. But tonight the hostess and waitress acted like their dog died today. They had as much personality as a doorknob. Don't know if it was a weekday, or if Dodi and Kevin were away, but our meal was slam-bam-can I rip that plate away from you. I normally would give The Nest 5 stars - it's a must-do in a Palm Desert. Maybe the waitress was the hostess's daughter and they hate working with each each other. A few smiles and a little bit "How are you today?" would have gone a LONG way. I let Dodi know that we were dissatisfied with the service and she apologized profusely. Everyone has a bad day - maybe I just caught the perfect storm of hostess/waitress tsunami. Since I like this place so much I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and next time maybe I'll get the 5-star experience I'm used to.

I was pushed out by a bouncer and some random drunk guy. After the fact that they told us to stand behind the band but moved us no more than 5 minutes late. Owner had no condolences!

I just can't get enough of this place. No matter what night you go the dancefloor is always packed and the crowd is alive and having the time of their lives. If you don't want to cut a rug to the live music, then go there for dinner. I have tried many of the selectuions on the menu and ALL of them are fantastic. The staff is fabulous, the food is fabulous, and the overall experience is one you will never forget. I say GO TO THE NEST if you have the chance. You won't regret that you did.

The Nest is not just a place for the older crowd!! It is a party every night, and the live music is fun. Mostly tunes from years ago, but Kevin is a great singer & musician. You can dance, or just kick back and watch the crowd boogie. The drinks are good & stiff, but a little on the pricey side for me! Love the appetizers and the prices for them are quite reasonable. It's just the place to have an evening out away from the dive bars we usually frequent!!

There was a weird clown chillin outside. It gave me nightmares. The bar was just ok. Overpriced drinks for the quality of bar it is.

What a CLASS ACT! This is a miss-it-if-you-go-too-fast restaurant - that has a bar - and folks, it is a MUST DINE! NEVER in a zillion years would I have thought oh-so-unnutritious iceberg lettuce would be so appealing and appetizing - and it was - the wedge salad was wonderful. I ordered stuffed eggplant, as well as the special order garlic bread - the eggplant came with a perfectly grilled serving of assorted vegetables and we ordered the carrot cake for dessert. The Nest offers "early bird" specials during 4:30-6:30 PM M-F maybe next time I'll take them up on it. This is NOT for families looking for budget dining - this is an elegant, one-of-a-kind restaurant that is extremely difficult to find - the ambiance, impeccable service - I can't wait to go back. I saw a mostly older crowd - locals - older women that looked like aging movie stars but the important thing to note is the place was filling up quickly by 7 PM - bar was packed. Did I mention the food was EXCELLENT? Has a 60's vibe in spite of the upgrades and remodeling they've done - and I for one thought - GROOVY! Tip well and enjoy every bite.

Thanksgiving at The Nest. After reading the reviews of the old singles mingling at this place, maybe we could call it Empty Nest? No? Too harsh? Anyways... I've done Thanksgiving once at a restaurant before this and was horribly disappointed. I left that particular restaurant still hungry as they were portioning for maximum profit. The Nest definitely did a great job. They kept the drinks coming, served up large plates with enough to fill, and must've been paying their waitress well enough because she was all smiles while working on the holiday. It sounds like this is a fun place to check out on a regular night, but the boring dining experience worked out just as well! Worth a stop. Try 'em out!

Still terrific! Great food and service. Just to let you know, any reviews before November 2010, were not the new owners. The place has been completely remodeled The clientele is younger, the food is terrific, and it no longer smells like cigarette smoke.... Sunday night is one of my favorite nights. Low key jazz... Always a great end to a week end.

My boyfriend and I went to the Nest to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary and also because they had live entertainment. We had the early bird special. My boyfriend had the Double Cut Cajun Pork Chop, which was so thick and juicy. I had Mom's Goulash with Filet Mignon (similar to stew over yummy mashed potatoes). The server recommended a great wine. It was Dona Paula Malbec from Argentina, great with the Filet Mignon. The owner, Dodi asked if we had been there before, which we hadn't. We told her that the service was very good and our food was delicious. She asked if we were staying for the entertainment and we said yes. She then told us that she would get us one of the best tables in the bar (where all the action is!) We did indeed, our table was great. Her husband was the lead vocalist and on keyboards, her son, played tenor sax and a local played trumpet. They played a wide range of genres. We had a fun time dancing. The Nest is also a local hangout. Their server in the bar was fast and terrific. Dodi even bought us a round of drinks. Thank you for making our 3rd Anniversary so memorable.

went for restaurant week. was pleasantly surprised, we got the chicken and the phish. i preferred the phish but the chicken was good. mushroom ravioli app was great, but too small, imo should have been three. my daughter loved the dance floor, she's four. if i was 70 or up, single, and bored I'd be here daily. i got the feeling some of the people who work here bug.

OH YEAH. The nest is THE place to be any night of the week in the area. Always have a great time here. The bartenders and servers are quick and personable. Live entertainment and dancing make this place great. Every city should have a nest.

My husband and I went here for dinner for the first time during a quick last minute getaway to Palm Springs. The atmosphere was so much fun and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The owner was so gracious and welcoming! Love going to a new restaurant being greeted by the owner and being thanked so much for coming. We will definetely be coming in again on our next visit to Palm Springs! Next time we plan on staying to dance!

In Palm Springs with my teenage daughter for a tennis tournament and we stopped in a little before 5pm for a very early dinner. I ordered the stuffed eggplant and my daughter had spaghetti bolognese, lentil soup and garlic bread. She loved her meal. I thought the stuffed eggplant was phenomenal! Even took a picture of it so we can try to recreate it at home. Wow! Service was wonderful, food brought quickly. Of course, we were so early that we were basically the only ones in the dining room, but still - kudos to the staff as they checked on us often and were wonderful. I don't know about the bar scene - judging from the reviews it must be a sight to see. I will say there were already a few little groups forming in the bar area drinking cocktails when we walked in. Will have to come back with my hubby sometime to check it out. Would definitely come back for the stuffed eggplant! So glad we found an off-the-beaten-road restaurant like this one.

I've been there a few times and can honestly say I've never enjoyed myself. Although it seems like others are having a great time because it never fails that someone spills their drink on me. The bar staff could be more attentive as I lost my buzz while waiting to order another drink. If you like a small space that's overcrowded then this is the place for you.

We always enjoy an evening at The Nest when we're in Palm Desert. Such a fun place, and the food is reasonable and delicious. The service is terrific (thank you, Danielle), and the dancing and people-watching is great! The bartender, Andy, remembers us from year to year and even remembers our drinks! Don't miss The Nest when you're in Palm Desert!

The best bar I have ever been to - seriously it beats anything in NYC, Vegas, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Boston...you name it and The Nest beats the "it" bar in any of the other city I have been to. Why do you ask? Let me count the ways: 1. People watching is stellar - Most of the crowd is over 55 and they Honeybadger it up...they don't give a shit. 2. The place is packed - we went on a Saturday night in off season and there was a line down the street. 3. The piano bar with live band set up is one of a kind - set dead smack in the middle of the bar. If you are luck enough you can snag a seat at the bar and have a view of all the shenanigans going on. 4. Did I mention the people watching?! This place needs to be on TV. 5. Drinks are decently priced, strong and the shots are large. 6. Limited line for the restroom, now I know, odd to mention - but as a girl we have to use the facilities a lot and in a packed bar the worst thing is having to wait. Surprisingly enough no line, must be that 40% of the crowd here quite possibly could be wearing depends. 7. Dancing - who doesn't love dancing?! Best part is that here, if you are under 40 you will be the best dancer and look really cool. If you are going to the desert, you MUST, and I repeat MUST stop here. It's a must see, I had the time of my life.

The happy hour menu falls under the $$, (bar side only) the meals fall more under the $$$. Server was super nice, food taste great, and the restaurant was more towards a classier crowd. After a day of hiking painted canyon we stopped by for an early dinner, definitely did not fit into the theme of the restaurant lol. But had a great time non the less :)

Awesome restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. The owner even came over and gave all my kids toys. I mean big toys, Barbie doll, hulk mask and stuffed animal. Make sure you make make a reservation beacause this place gets packed.

So my friend needed some R & R and we drove out to Palm Springs. This place is exactly as the other reviews said. Go in with an open mind and you'll have an awesome time. One can say this is the senior citizen crowd. But its not what you think. People are dolled up and are getting down to the live music there. Had an awesome time. Most likely stop by next time I'm in town!

I was there last night to listen to my boyfriends brother play . This is a freaking star wars bar. Too Loud, too crowded . Dripping with old man creepin on women and pathetic, desperate woman looking for rich old disgusting men . I was literally embarrassed for these old fools. You people that rated it 4 and 5 Stars are the people we were laughing at. I will never go there again. And hey , old man creeper in the white shirt, you are gross man.

I probably can't say much more positive about this place, but I will try... So, for all that good stuff that has been said, and I'll tell you that a visit to the area is NOT complete without going here for the fun music, lively bar, great food... I was down there a month ago, and unfortunately a real emergency popped up that occurred to my group at the establishment. Dodi, the owner, and her staff were so incredibly helpful and kind, that I have still to this day found it hard to express my thanks. The door men at this place, what a bunch of nice guys, no ego, friendly... I'd give the place 10 stars if I could. Dodi, I'll see you next year for my visit, and you'll probably hear from me before then. You're the best. - Magnus Brandfors, President of Steilacoom Investments

I can't comment on the food, just the atmosphere. The music was too loud... the dance floor too crowded... and how people eat on the other side of the wall listening to ridiculously loud music I'll never know. My only suggestion would be, that if you're coming to EAT here, you find out when the dancing begins... and eat well before it. I wouldn't pay a penny to eat with that racket blasting. Menu, for me, was limited. Most choices were priced in the high $20s... $30s and, yes, $40s. For THAT atmosphere? Uh, no thanks. Now, if you just want to go and dance there and don't care about whether or not you can hear for a day or two thereafter, you'll probably have a good time if you don't mind packed dance floors. Not for me.

Whether you live here or visit here - you hear about The Nest. We finally went for dinner last Friday and we were very impressed. Made Open Table res and seated when we walked in @ 7pm. Great server with a wonderful sense of humor. The place was busy with all ages in the dining room. Music coming from the packed bar. We had their pre-fix dinners of 1/2 rack of lamb and citrus crusted salmon and both were terrific! Plus salad and desert. We will definitely be back.

OMG BEST. PLACE. EVERRRRR Literally: Imagine walking into a room full of 55 year olds, fully decked out in the best Chicos and Tommy Bahamas has to offer, dancing, drunk. Scan the room. See anyone younger than 40? Not a chance. More lively, more dancing, more smiles, more denture cream than any other bar you have ever been to in your life. This is a MUST VISIT for anyone, young and old, all for distinct reasons.

The Nest wasn't quite as old-school in decor as I'd imagined, but that's okay. They've remodeled since 1945--perhaps in the late 70s, early 80s. The crowd is older, but that's fine by me. I'm too old to be hanging with kids doing Jager shots or drinking Red Bull & vodka or whatever it is that cool kids drink these days. I just want a good cocktail and good company. Of course, meeting Yelpers at a bar insures good company. The cocktail waitress was pretty attentive, checking in regularly to see if we needed anything. Drinks were fine. The default spirits used to make our Manhattans were not top shelf, but not the cheapest stuff either. Nothing fancy but perfectly serviceable. The entertainment was sincere. It may not be my style, but they weren't bad. The bf loved that they had a horn player, not just a keyboard. They were having a good time, and a few people who got up to dance did, too. I'll probably come back for dinner some time. And if my mom comes to visit, I'll bring her to the bar to make new friends.

Came out from LA, had a wonderful time again at The Nest. Our food was prepared and served to perfection, prices were great along with the variety of selections. The customers were fun as always and my wife and I danced for hours after dinner. Quite the friendly staff as well, really enjoyed our stay. Better than anywhere you can go in LA! Love this place

How can anyone say anything bad about the Nest? My husband and I brought our two kids and had an amazing evening. The staff was very friendly and gave our kids Halloween goodie bags. The decor is very nice and atmosphere is great. We split the artichoke dip, escargot, wedge salad, dodis pasta and Mediterranean sampler. Everything was delicious. Our kids split the children's pasta and it was plenty of food. Our meal also came with amazing bread and butter and our cocktails were a good size with generous pour. My only regret is that we couldn't stay for the music and dancing as it looks like everyone was having a great time. I would highly recommend and we will def be back!!!

I liked this kitschy/retro restaurant. Had the price fix menu. A little like cafeteria style food. Filet mignon had no seasoning and I reached for the salt and pepper shakers. Thanks for the little cookie on the way out the door!

the reviews must be from investors. After a long awaited weekend getaway with long time friend, we decide to go to The Nest. We made dinner reservations thru Open Table, arrived and were seated at a great table by the fireplace. The music was so horrible we were laughing at dinner, and many times, thought - is he singing THAT? completely butchered "Walk this Way" and as he sang "Pretty Woman" was so lazy and mumbling, he kept saying "Pretty Wo,ooh" - Timing was awful, and awkward silence gaps in music of sometimes 4-5 minutes made me embarrassed for the owner and the lounge lizard. It's any entertainer's fear that the energy will die, and it did several times - people were staring at each other "what's going on?" I have no idea why there are great reviews. We just wanted to dance, the lack of any rhythm or energy. Complete disappointment.

I had one of the best nights here than I've had in a verrrrrrry long time. Was here just last Friday night for dinner- awwwwwwwesome! Had the wedge salad that was the best along with a yummy bottle of red- I had the stuffed bell pepper and my date had the sole....all was great! Then we hit the dance floor to the live band and worked off all our food! Just a great vibe....a little bit of an older woman/younger man type crowd. Would def def def definatley go back!

This place is awesome! Honestly, the BEST people watching eva! Coming here almost makes me wish I was 70!! Them old folks were having a blast and they were dancing circles around this youngin (haha). The band was fabulous and I really enjoyed the saxaphone player. If you want a spot to rest your dogs after all that dancing then I suggest getting there before 7 otherwise you might have to wait to get in and you won't have a spot to sit.The place is small and seating is limited. The food was also really good! You can't beat their happy hour food specials!

  • Angela T.

Ate at my favorite hot spot...The Nest of course, tonight I had the spaghetti with meat balls; which was one of the specials tonight. I can't say enough great things about the meatballs, juicy & meaty (not filled with bread crumbs), just one of those things that you have to experience for yourself to truly understand the happiness that my belly went through! My husband had the chefs special which was baked chicken, fell off the bone and seasoned to desire, you can't go wrong with either one! Chef JC and Fonzie, you really do know the way to a girls heart!

While on a weekend getaway in Palm Desert I dined at The Nest, which I found on yelp. Valet Parking is available in front, but there is also a large parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. I had no reservations on a Thursday night but was promptly seated. There is a sit down restaurant area, as well as a lounge/bar area with music. Yes, 95% of the clientele here is already collecting social security, but this is true for the majority of the Palm Desert/ Palm Springs area. The prices are very modest and reasonable for the amount of food you receive. All entrees INCLUDE BOTH soup and salad. The soup was delicious and the wedge salad was mediocre. I ordered the Frogs Legs in garlic butter sauce which were served with a side of risotto and spinach. I may not have the most discerning palette in the world, but I have had Frogs Legs on many occasions at a variety of restaurants and I must say that these were my LEAST FAVORITE. The risotto, however, was absolutely delicious. The wine list was decent, and had a good selection of wines at good prices. Overall, I'm not sure I would return unless I was just coming to the bar for a drink or for happy hour. Who says you can't have fun with the 70+ crowd?

The Nest is such a fun & happening place in the Desert. Great energy, yummy food and I loved the stuffed cabbage rolls made from scratch that reminded me of my homeland (Serbia). I was delighted to hear one of the owners is from Bosnia and that she brings unexpected treats (such as the stuffed cabbage rolls mentioned above) to your table just to bring joy to someone missing homemade food from back home. Friendly staff, great drinks, food & entertainment. I highly recommend the Nest for fun night out with your friends - 5 stars!

Food was good (not great). Nice ambiance - a throwback to the glory years of Palm Springs. Aspect that stood out most was the excellent service. The servers leverage the team approach to make sure no table is ever ignored, and are all very friendly. The Owner came over and gave toys to my children while we were waiting for our food, which was something I've never experienced in a restaurant before, really nice. It's not a quick meal, so be ready to invest a good 90 minutes. And if you don't want to be eating in the middle of a nightclub, be prepared to get out of there by 7:30 when this place goes from loungy steakhouse to studio 54 circa 1974.

Anyone considering the Nest should read David G.'s review from 2008. If you don't like the review, don't go there. Everyone else should make it a point to drop in if they are within 30 miles. I don't give 5 stars often, but this place deserves them for having an authenic Palm Springs (actually Indian Wells) bar scene. Definitely as good as it gets. I was talking to an 80+ woman in the bar the last time I was there, who was telling me, "Well okay, I guess this place is crudely known as a 'meat market.' Once you hook up (and are no longer single), you really don't come back here any more . . ." I wanted to hear more but some geezer snatched her up and took her off to the dance floor. Tonight, my husband and I were looking for a place to eat and every other place in PD was dead at 8:45. The Nest was not only still serving, but busy. If you are looking for great food, this is probably not the place (although it is passable and reasonably priced for IW). For us, we plan on stopping in, on occasion, for next 50 or 60 years.

What a great place... But it's really two places. We went twice this weekend. gotta love a place that's full of locals having a good time. The first night we went to the dinning room restaurant side. We showed up at 6:30 on a Friday night with no reservation and Dodi said give us a couple minutes and we'll find you a place. Then she sat us at a reserved table in the bar area until we could be seated in the dinning room. Even while we waited people came by to check on us to see if we needed anything and to tell us they were almost ready to seat us for dinner. Our server was great and the food was too. Wedge salads with smokey bacon yum! Wife had nicely grilled salmon which was perfectly done... Grilled outside, moist inside. My filet and shrimp were great as well. Second night we went early to get a seat at the bar. The whole bar menu is $6 until 7 including the weekend. Good bar food, wonderful Bosnian dishes, good service, nice people, live music, laughter, place was packed by 7:00. Thank you Yelp... Great find. We'll be back.

This place is very interesting. It may be an older crowd, but that does not mean it is boring. There is great energy here and the food is solid. The drinks are very good and the special menus are priced very well. Check out the awesome bar scene. Definitely a fun place in the desert.

Ok so I took the wife this time and she had a great time . We ate a great meal then drank champagne till we got silly and then danced and drank Mexican coffees till she put up the white flag . As always there's a line to get in if your late so eat here to be sure of a place in the bar . Nothing not to like here so if your in Indian wells and want to have a great time come down to the nest .

It definitely not for me. The appropriate age group was mid 40s plus and I am only 32. I give it 3 stars because the crowd of that age group was having a good time.

Should be $$$ rather than $$. Very good food. Tried the wedge salad, ceasar salad with chicken, clam chowder soup and spaghetti bolognese. It was all excellent food. Noisy atmosphere, otherwise good.

I love The Nest! Real people , hard working friendly staff, and great vibe .. Best to go in with no expectation , and you'll come out happy and feeling good . Just go relax and let life happen. Been here about half a dozen times with my boyfriend , always a great time and the waitress always remembers us!

Freaking awesome! Most fun Ive had in a bar in a loooooong time! I wouldn't say it was a blue haired place, more like rich retired alcoholic just got off the golf course ready to freaking party is a better description. The full band they have is just completely on point and a totally legit musical performance. All the dudes are in their 60's with plastic surgery trying to rock out and look hot- it works! Theyre good! People in here are partying their asses off, fun to people watch and be oggled by the patrons whispering they wish they were younger. Way better place to dance than any other place in the desert ive come across. Alcohol is cheap too! Trouts and cougars galore, and be sure to remember the cougars bite or lick (no really they do)! Beware!

The totally renovated Nest. If you haven't been there what a surprise. Food.. great to excellent. You will either like or shun dancing environment as it is not a large area. Service is great as the owners are there every night.

I originally reviewed this place several days ago, however, Yelp notified me that they were removing my review due to the review containing "second hand information". I am now submitting my review based solely upon my own experience: I sent my college age son to The Nest with $20. One hour later he returned home with $2. I reviewed The Nest and commented specifically on the price of their drinks. The manager emailed me and notified me that I needed to "get my facts straight" before posting on Yelp. She also stated that my son had ordered a double and they charge double the price for a double. It is my understanding and experience that when one orders a "double" in a bar/restaurant the price is adjusted according to a per ounce price and not merely a "doubling" of the single price. A Google search of customary bar practices confirmed this. I am very disappointed in both the managers' response and subsequent action with Yelp. It has been my experience that people who work in service industries usually care about their customers' experiences in their establishments and will respond accordingly. Sadly this was not my experience with the manager of this establishment.

After reading all the other reviews we gave The Nest a try with high hopes and an open mind. As expected, the crowd was definitely older. They were also really loud which the room only amplified with its lack of fabric (and decor). The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the pear salad which consisted of a mixture of spring salad mix you get from a bag, some candied walnuts and CANNED pears . There is just no excuse for a restaurant to serve canned fruit. The salad was doused with dressing so what ever freshness level the lettuce was in to start it was wilted by the time it came to me. I ordered the chicken piccata which was swimming in a white sauce that had a nice pungent flavor but had a pasty texture. The veggies it came with tasted like those frozen Swanson mixed veggies my mom served us when I was a kid. I would like to call this diner food but growing up in New Jersey I have been to some really great diners. I would not recommend The Nest for a foodie or for anyone younger than 65.

Restaurant is very crowded and noisy. The music is good. If you just want to be social at the table, forget it. Need reservations. Can't hear a thing but noise. There was a big party next to us that attributed to the noise. They did move us to another area of the restaurant If you go earlier it would have been nicer. Combination bar and restaurant. It was better. We could hear each other talk if we worked at it. They also have a bar with live music. Wedge salad and pork chops were delicious.

We had the BEST time here! Went up for a Girl's weekend a few weeks ago and were invited by some guys that knew the place....we danced and danced and danced! Music was amazing and the crowd was fun and light hearted - all were there to have a good time and enjoy themselves. We were no different! Would definitely go again! Did not partake in dinner or apps; got there a bit late and had drinks and dancing, so we can't vouch for the menu. My girls, the Brown Betties, give it 5 Stars :)

Keep in mind, as you read this, that I ate there on a Monday at 8:30 PM. I LOVE it! I'd go back tomorrow and the next day and the next day. Most of the soups, which flow freely, are vegetable based. So, I took advantage of that and ordered the DELICIOUS split pea soup (can't wait to try their lentil soup next time). I ordered a second bowl too. And, to not be outdone, ended up taking two bonus bowls home too. OINK! I ordered the little nest (not exactly sure of the name. But it was the soup and salad wedge). I had the balsamic dressing on my salad. I was expecting straight balsamic. But, it was an actual dressing. I loved it. The hostess, wait staff, ETC were so wonderful and nice. They seem genuinely concerned about the quality of your experience. I just don't have one negative thing to say.

I visited The Nest about 3 months ago and had a wonderful time. The owner was very friendly and seated us in a VIP booth so that we could enjoy the band, but also allowed us to get away from the crowded bar area and enjoy our cocktails in a comfy booth. I was on a girls' trip with three other 30-something ladies and we all had a blast! The people watching was first and foremost the reason we went due to the hilarious Yelp reviews we had read, but we found that the band was very entertaining, the cocktails were great and the restaurant/bar had a great vibe. I will definitely be back again! I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of the clientele there. A member of KISS (band) even showed up for a cameo performance with the house-band. It was great!

On Sunday, long-time-no-see relatives called to invite us out to dinner as they were traveling through California on their way to Arizona. Required, of course, is cocktail hours at home to catch up on all the news. There was so much news that at 9:15 p.m. we thought we better get to someplace that was still serving. The Nest is very close to home so I phoned and was told they would take us anytime before eleven. We arrived to an absolutely jam-packed rocking bar with the music played at the highest decibel level ever attained. Through the bar we went to a table in the dining room. There were possibly four other occupied tables with diners eating dessert or trying to talk over coffee. To make a long story longer, one of the boys ordered chicken pot pie and the other, pot roast which was preceded by a wedge. We girls decided on eggplant Parm. Chicken pot seemed to be acceptable. The wedge looked very nice and the eggplant to my taste was really the most mediocre I have ever eaten, served with uninspired spaghetti and sauce. No sprinkle of cheese was offered until it was requested. The pot roast was in big chunks and did not look appetizing at all. Incidentally, I noticed a good portion was left uneaten. We asked for coffee which was served lukewarm, however, the refill came hot. A Creme Brulee was requested and arrived with berries. I didn't sample, but a large amount of that remained in its dish. OMG, the music in the dining room was just as loud as in the bar and the piano player, singing along with his amplified recordings was enough to give you a nervous breakdown while you are trying to eat and converse in the dining room. Our conversation was, "Huh," "excuse me," what did you say," "I beg your pardon," "I didn't get that," "come again," "sorry.". We decided this musician was not a union member because he NEVER took a break and he never even went to the bathroom despite our fervent prayers. THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT. Won't be back for more. The prices: Much too high for the quality of the food.

I used to drive by this place as a kid visiting the desert. My wife surprised me with dinner reservations on a Friday night. Let me just say that this place is incredible. The people, service, and atmosphere is some of the best that I've ever experienced. Just walking through the nightclub area, you had a sense that something was about to happen. Well, it did! I cannot remember the singer's name, but the place started to jump. I have never seen a dance floor filled with older couples, cougars, bachelorettes, and every possible demographic in one place. I was too full from the food to dance around. But next time, I will be all over it. Garlic Bread. Incredible taste and flavor Wedge Salad. Better than I thought it would be Clam Chowder. Very good, hit the spot Filet Mignon. One of the best steaks I've ever had Carrot Cake. I could've eaten this all night long We'll be back. I promise.

Wow! What a fun night ... I ran into a few business owners I know from the chamber world, danced the night away, when I wasn't dancing I was pulled up to the piano bar talking with new friends. There were two groups of younger people .... a bachelorette party among them and the rest was what I had always heard: the older crowd. My take on that is these people have lived their whole lives learning what fun is and they are correct! I love learning from my dancing-machine elders.

After a day at the Desert Riviera (wonderful), dinner at Spencers (delightful) decided to follow the instructions of my desert mentor Geoff and headed over to the Nest for the finish to our 21st Anniverary Celebration. The piano player was just getting seated and the fun about to begin. Make sure you finish all your dinner conversation and small talk, because once the music starts it is LOUD. There can't be a better place to people watch. It is fascinating to see 60+ people look as awkward as teenagers asking others to dance and seeking the company of the opposite sex. It seems to be the place where everyone knows your name, the fun is infectious, no music played from 1980 or sooner, and people genuinely friendly. Whether you are looking for love, a sugar daddy, a dance partner, or the chance to relive the hits of the 60's, this is your spot. At 48 it is difficult to feel young anywhere, but I felt it at the Nest.

I was greeted at the door by a large pair of 5 year-old boobs....attached to a 60 year-old bronzed woman dancing her a** off. And our evening at The Nest only got better... Came here last weekend for the first time with the GF and another couple. Got there around 9pm and the bar was jumping. Do not be put off by what you read in all the Yelp reviews...all of them are absolutely true. If you are uptight or scared by old people having a crazy time, do not come. However, that being said, there are plenty of younger people (late-20s to mid-30s) having a great time, too. Think younger dudes wanting that experience with an older lady (line of the night I overheard as I came out of the restroom was from a mid-20s guy to a gal who was every bit twice his age ("No ma'am, you don't look a day over 30"). I left as they cozied up to the bar together... Several bachelorette parties, too. The arrival of these groups of younger gals was like sprinkling fish food into an aquarium. I haven't seen so much sexual tension in a bar since my high-school dance days...albeit most of which was medically induced to be sure. For anyone in the entertainment-starved far end of the Coachella Valley, this is a must visit. Plan on the following: - having multiple martinis; - dancing in the aisles to a fantastic band; - playing my favorite game of "who's the hooker" as you watch old rich dudes leave and put hot younger gals into pricey convertibles; and - watching an episode of National Geographic's "Animal Predators" unfold as hungry ladies stalk their prey. I hope I am not selling The Nest too much as the place is already crammed to capacity on weekends. Count on seeing me there next time I am in the desert. My lady and I may just show up in matching track suits to show we're hip.

Even though The Nest is for the 50+ crowd--anyone of drinking age needs to check out this scene if for nothing else but entertainment! While traveling through me and my significant other went to The Nest for a couple of drinks. Even though, we were the youngest in the entire place by at least 30 years-we had a blast people watching, drinking and dancing! A senior citizens night club that offers the slutty girl with leather pants throwing herself at the piano, the arrogant guy that thinks every women wants him and the couple that can't keep their hands off each other-Iits just like a 20's night club with a older crowd-definitely entertaining!

My wife and I happened on this piano bar this week while visiting the desert. The bartender (Andy) was amazing. Friendly, helpful and fast. Even made me a specific drink not normally on the menu. The owners of this place are right there hanging out and making you feel welcome. I'm told they have only owned the place a short while so you might want to check it out again if you've been before. The husband plays the piano and his wife greets you at the door. There is one room for dining and another for partying. We decided to eat food off the menu while seated at the bar. The happy hour lasted all night and was AWESOME it included all the drinks and a wide variety of food. Every item 6 bucks!!! I had the two fish tacos and a wedge salad. I was stuffed for 12 bucks. Needles to say, we had a blast and would go back for sure. Great place if you like live music played by people who really know what they are doing!! I heard stories about how this place is an older crowd. Possibly, but I didnt see it. Lots of eye candy when we were there.

Had a great experience. Everything is as all the reviews said: A restaurant and a Bar with a lively social scene in both. The Desert has a variety of people living there and they are all represented quite well here. One thing noticeably absent is tourists to Palm Springs - it's about a 30 minute drive from Downtown, the de facto destination of most tourists. This means its totally legit and though there are plenty of non-locals, there's no one showing up looking like the were left there by a tornado and wondering just what the hell they are in for. The food is good, not great (dry meatloaf with a dull gravy; I got a side of the marinara sauce to use for it which is what they should serve it with actually). The artichoke dip is basically a bubbly ricotta thing, with nice Greek Pitas to smear it on. Essentially this is a continental type joint with food you would have expected in the 70s, the peak of most of the customers charmed lives. My friend had the stuffed eggplant, which is essentially a deconstructed eggplant marinara - he loved it. Desserts - had a decent key lime pie (crust needed to be cooked more, flour tasted raw) and Baklava - way undercooked. Dodi is super sweet. I will be here whenever I visit the desert.

There are times in life when "Happy Accidents" occur. Arrived in Palm Desert on business and wanted to find the "it" place to go. What comes up on YELP?? "The Nest". A 45 year old establishment with hospitality and warmth dripping from every pore of its being. Food is STELLAR, service is TO THE MOON AND BACK, and the over all vibe is INFECTIOUS. Whenever you visit Palm Desert you have to visit this "landmark". Owners Kevin and Dodi Henry are present nightly to ensure their vision is met. If you happen to cocktail in the bar area, request Rosealee (sp). She is AMAZING!! All around a must see/ stop/ visit whilst visiting Palm Desert. Your trip or stay will not be fulfilled to the max without at the very least a beverage at the NEST. Cannot wait to return.

Went to The Nest for a drink after a late afternoon tee time. You have to see this place if you are in town. I did not eat but the menu looks reasonably priced if a bit limited in scope. The bartender was both efficient and friendly. The atmosphere in the bar area is straight out of the 50's, dark with an interesting decor. If you want to feel like a kid, this is your place. Sitting in the lounge watching folks come in for drinks and dinner, I realized I was the youngest in the room. The average age of the folks entering The Nest appeared to be about 2 years younger than God. The Nest is worth a look even if it is only for a drink.

I finally headed over to The Nest while my girlfriend from NC was in town. I dragged my hubby along. I have heard many many stories about this place, but, boy was I glad to finally see the action in person. Right when you walk in the door people are dancing. There is no real designated dancing area, people are dancing wherever and whenever. The first person we see is a 65+ woman with the biggest implants busting out that almost slap you in the face. It is a geriatric meat market, but I think it was awesome to see the older crowd out having a kiss ass time. The live music is so incredible, it really puts you in the mood to get down and boogy. My girlfriend who was celebrating her 40th, had the BEST time EVER! Love this place!!!!!!!!!!!

This place is exactly as the other reviews said. Go in with an open mind and you'll have an awesome time. Went back three nights in a row. The owner played piano and sang on Sunday and Monday nights, accompanied by great saxaphone. A must experience. All the help, bar maids, bouncers, owners are the best. Friendly and helpful. Truly, felt at home and had a lot of fun. This establishment is run with tender loving care. One can say this is the senior citizen crowd. But its not what you think. People of all ages are getting down to the live music. Had an awesome time. Will stop again when I'm in town! Thanks Dodi and staff.

This place is amazing!!! 11 girls and I for girls weekend came here for drinks and some dancing!! The place was more the packed..wayyyy to many people in there. The old men were grabbing and trying to kiss my cheek, well that's what they got, it was a little uncomfortable. That's why 1 less star. Other then that, the music was awesome and the drinks were reasonable, even though I don't think I paid for 1. I will be back, but maybe next time with my boyfriend!!

A unique place with beautiful people. Recommend that everyone check out The Nest at least once in their lifetime. I will definitely be back next time I am in the area. *trying to walk through extremely crowded bar* :: bump :: Me: Oops, excuse me. Grandpa: Oh no... excuse ME. It was my fault. Me: Oh? Grandpa: Yeah, I have a big butt. Me: Hmmm... *leanin over to check him out* Man, this place is ghetto... Geriatric ghetto that is! Peeps in here be settin off metal detectors, not from packin gats, but from the metal hip replacements and pace makers yo. They roll up in pimped out Jaguar golf carts n shit. They pour drinks stiffer than the Viagra poppin grandpops chillin next to you. Instead of staring at the ceiling in a retirement home somewhere, these old folks are living it up! Drinking, dancing, and yes even scamming... these guys know how to enjoy life :o) I hope I end up at the nest one of these days.... well, more like decades.

I heard this place was great. Stopped in around 9:00 p.m. and thought I was in a scene from Cocoon. We walked around and quickly left and headed for Costas That place seemed to be filled with trashy 20 somethings clinging to their little groups and standing around listening to loud pulsating music. We left at 11:00 and decided to check the Nest out on the way back to PS. What a change in a few hours. The octogenarians (not that there's anything wrong with that ) had departed and the crowd was basically 40+, all having a great time. Happy vibe with many friendly people. All of the musicians were terrific. Will definitely return.

The place is a relic from the past and the place should be imploded. We went there with another couple the other night for dinner. The dining room at 7pm was 1/8 full. Upon entering you are hit with a dark, dank, dirty, old noisy room which is the bar. That set the tone for a lousey evening. Okay we all said, we'll eat here anyway. To think that the Nest charges $42 for a steak....you can go to Ruth Chris's and have a great steak for that amount of dough. I had a steak sandwich...$21..paper thin slice of rib eye on a 1/2 roll that could not be cut with a steak knife. Moussaka was poisonous. My companions were less then happy with the food and service...slow. I know people love the bar scene....my first impression was never again. Implode the place and start over with new owners.

Went for an 8pm dinner. Very friendly staff, seated immediately, even though we were a little early. Very eclectic crowd, unusual set up, in that the dining room and bar are next to each other with no dividing wall. This means at a certain time, the band will be playing and the bar will be hopping, when you are eating - some might not like that, I thought it was rather exciting. Plus a clown will be lurking, perhaps looking at you through the window...all in all, rather fun. Food wise, had the calamari, very nice, good crispy batter, not at all greasy, with 2 dips, including a rather garlicky one, very delicious, as well as a tomato based dip. My friend had a wedge salad, which she really enjoyed, said the dressing was very good. Chose an entree from the Light Menu, Dodi's Pasta, spaghetti with spicy sausage, it was just right, nicely cooked pasta, had a good bite to it, which I like. My dining companion had the sole picata, she wasn't over keen on it, she thought it a little greasy, buttery. Lyonaisse potatoes were not good, tasted like they had been cooked a while back. Veggies were fine. Had a split of champagne (Piper Heidsieck) which was good value for $16, $8 a glass for real champagne is pretty good. As it was Monday's, some wines were half off, not all. I had a Nestini cocktail, quite strong! Pretty good though. All in all, an enjoyable night, would definitely go back to try some other dishes, and would recommend this place for sure. Would rate this 3.5 stars overall.

The girlfriend, some of her friends and I went here for dinner new years day. First off yes, there's plenty of the over 50 crowd. And yes it's a cougar den. The food Is fantastic! The piano bar will provide the perfect post dinner chill spot. My insider tip...don't be alarmed if you see a fully dressed clown walk in. This place is a must go!

Wall to wall packed....with old people. I am not an agist, but after my ass being fondled and drunk old rude women running into me and making me spill my drink everywhere I am not a fan. They obviously have more fun then my generation so I guess I should be looking forward to the good ole years to come when I will be able to get sloshed and take medications and do whatever I like because who cares?? I'm old.

We absolutely love this place!! The atmosphere and people watching are the best! The food is fantastic and the happy hour is really good. The quality of the appetizers is fantastic and the prices during happy hour for food are ridiculously cheap! As long as nothing changes, we'll be going back for years to come. We have a blast every time we go there. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, great live music - one big, happy party.

Waited forever in line to get into the bar then was taken to a crappy table in the back restaurant and told we had to wait to go into the lounge. Terrible service. Wrong drinks brought to table. Should have gone to Yard House. Music was awesome, just wish we could get into lounge to dance to it

I arrived in the desert about six years ago. I knew absolutely no one other than my coworkers who totally punked me and told me to go to the Nest for a good time. That was six years ago and I haven't been back there since. Honestly, I don't remember much except that it was really dark and senior citizens were everywhere. So, when a friend asked me to go to the Nest last week for happy hour (please, please!) I smiled and said, "why not?" I arrive a little after 5 P.M. and head directly to a stool at the bar. The lights are on, I had remembered it much darker. At this time of day, there is only a couple sitting at the bar. As I wait on my friend to show up I ask about the happy hour specials. I am told, "Well liquor is five bucks." I order a vodka. I ask if they have happy hour food and I am given a stand with a list of six or seven items to order for "five bucks." The place had an odor of stale cigarettes, at least it smelled that way to me. In my mind I was trying to figure out when cigarettes were banned in bars because it seems like enough time would have passed for this not to have been an issue. It's no big deal, I'm just bored and thinking of stupid stuff. My daydreaming is interrupted by the phone ringing. That's when I hear her. The hostess sounded like a 50 year, 4 pack a day chain smoker and had a Carol Channingish look. Her voice made Kathleen Turner's voice seem like a tenor in the Vienna Boy's Choir. She was very elegant in her black dress and seemed to know some of the regular 80 somethings that were coming in for dinner. So, I'm on my third vodka when my friend finally arrives. We order both order the "five dollar" shrimp and chips. Meh, it's okay. Generally, the food at the bar is very small versions of what you might be thinking. It came with three fried shrimp and sweet potato french fries served on a side dish plate. There was also fish and chips, which I almost ordered because I was still hungry, but opted for the garlic bread (good!) It is now getting dark and I notice the lights are dimmed. We are told the piano will start at 7:30. The place is filling up and I hear the bartender say, "it's dead tonight." It didn't seem dead to me, for a week night in the desert, but it must get crowded. I'll wrap this up because I didn't stay much later. Like all of the reviews before mine, the saber-tooth's (older version of the cougar) were in full swing. I have no doubt that if I had a couple of more drinks, I might be in great danger. Everyone is very pleasant and happy. I think this might warrant a revisit (with a group) on some weekend night. The Nest is certainly a place that everyone should experience at least once. Update: This review above was written under the old ownership. The new ownership has transformed The Nest as a happening hip place for all ages and is THE place to be on the weekends.

What a fantastic place to go for entertainment. This place is classic Palm Desert. The piano players are top notch and so much fun. Everyone says its for blue hairs...blah blah..we are a young 42 and we love it there. Get there early cause it gets packed! The food is great and drinks are poured generously. What makes this place really stand out are the owners..Dodie and Kevin. They make everyone that walks through the door feel like the most important customers in the place. Keep up the great work.

Hard to know what to write that hasn't been said. Wife and I were staying down the street and fellow I sat next to at the hotel bar had eaten here the night before and said it was good. We made an 8pm reservation for a Thursday night. When we arrived, bar area was already packed. Short wait and then we were shown to a table in the first dining room that ended up providing its own floor show of arriving revelers. First though, about the food/service. Server lacked most of the people skills you would hope to find in a server. Spoke with an accent, so his gruff, condensending manner was chalked up by my wife as a cultural factor not to be taken personally. But still, he seemed to size us up as small spenders and then payed little attention to us the rest of the meal. Now on to the meal. It was surprising good. Surprise because the menu seemed pretty basic, nothing too creative. But, that if ok if good and this was good. My wife had the steak sandwich. It was generous in size, nicely chard outside with perfect criss/cross hash marks and a smokey, charcoal cooked flavor. Nice. I took a dare on the seared Ahi. The Nest does not conjure image of great seafood, but man-o-man the Ahi was delicious. Sesame crusted, seared rare, melt in the mouth goodness. Served with julienne veggies which were crisp and flavorful. Now the "floor show". We were by a window looking out at the valet. Car after car pulling up with a diverse collection of people. Some young, dressed to thrill, too cool party people in Audi's followed by older (60+) dressed to kill men/women pulling up in cadillacs. If I were a plastic surgeon or botox doctor, this is where I would hang out to find patients or check out the work of other Drs. Some of the face lifts resulted in scary, Michael Jackson look-a-likes with duck lips which seemed to enter the room minutes before the rest of the face! Wow, it was such great people watching and fun to try and make up stories about their lives. As we were leaving checked out the dance floor. Everyone up on their feet dancing, some old guy playing grab ass with his partner, everyone having a great time. Definitely worth a visit for the food and people watching

If your in the desert you must check this place out! The people watching is one of a kind! It's definitely an old crowd and when I say older I mean geriatric!!! They still shake it and put the moves on each other, what a blast. The food it fantastic and the band is great. We always make sure to stop by when we are in the area!

Can you say silicone and botox? Very crowded especially after 9pm. Seems like a happening place if your over 60 or gay. Ahi was good but got sick later but that could of been from trying to get out of The Nest after dinner!

One of those rare places these days that still includes both soup and salad with the meal and still manages to provide good food at a fair price. The main attraction here is not the food but the entertainment and dancing, but the food was still good. I had the Veal Piccata which included clam chowder that was pretty ordinary but in a healthy sized bowl, and a nice wedge salad. The Piccata itself was properly prepared and a very nice portion and all of it cost only $26. My wife had a $27 Chicken Marsala which included the same soup and salad. We both had a glass of wine and then went to the lounge area to enjoy and dance to the music. The place was packed and could not possibly have met the fire marshall's standards, but we were able to snag seats and still get out on the dance floor. By the end of our evening, it was so crowded that it was unpleasant to stay. The food here is good, if unremarkable, but everything is reasonable and the popularity of the place is a testament to the overall great experience to be enjoyed here.

Great food, awesome atmosphere but the service was a tid slow. Our server was somewhat rude and arrogant. It was my mothers birthday and he served her last in everything which wasn't really all that nice, however, the bussers were very friendly and nice. I had to ask for water 5 times. (They weren't very "on top" of their game). I might have high standards however I myself am a server and I cannot say that I'd treat customers the way our server treated us. We all ordered wedge salads and the plates were incredibly dirty(dressing all over the place). We also received two dirty plates with crumbs and etc on them. I would say I had a great time and I could handle the attitude of the server well however my parents didnt like him at all and I felt bad for him. We were willing to tip very very well, especially since I know how much I hate getting 10 dollar tips on 150 dollar checks however me made it a bit hard so we had to lower our standards. Food is GREAT though. The Cajun pork chop I had was fantastic, well done to my request however it was juicy and succulent.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE NEST! It is a "must to go" place when in the desert..... This is THE NEW Nest. Food is delicious! Best escargot in town! Also love the chicken and dumpling special :) The owner Dodi has worked very hard on the food and has a lot of her mother's old school European recipes on the menu (don't miss the cabbage rolls)! After dinner move on into the bar. Kevin plays all of our favorites, and Tim never disappoints. Service is wonderful--especially Rosalie--she is an icon :) One thing for sure is that there is always something going on at this place. Great food, awesome music, the best people watching, and friendly staff. The best part is that it is a wonderful place for young people, old people, and everything in between! We were lucky enough to get a table for New Year's Eve and it was probably the best New Years EVER! Last night they had 1/2 price wine night as well as the infamous Jimmy Hopper as a guest entertainer. It was a blast! My out of town friends came in for dinner and dancing after and they couldn't remember when they had had more fun. The desert is lucky to have the Nest!!

Visited on Easter for dinner. They provided small goodie bags for the kids, nice touch. Overall, food was ok. I had the sampler platter of three dishes, quite small portions, but seemed quite right. Taste was just ok. Son had the burger and fries. Spouse had the rib eye and he found it too tough. Daughter had the pasta, and she liked it well enough to finish it. Best part of the meal was the dessert, coconut cream pie and the berry pie ala mode were really very good. Enjoyed the live band playing cover songs in the bar area.

We did The Nest! But everything there is to say and write has been said and written. Food and service average. Truly. Nothing wrong nothing spectacular. Service was efficient. Valet for the car was the best part of the service. Bar scene is to be seen. Captured well in all these reviews. Great to see folks having a genuinely good time. Hadn't heard KC and the Sunshine Band in a while, but that's the way I like it.....

Fun, fun, fun. Especially if you are over 50 and love to dance. My only complaint is that the restaurant is a bit pricey - but considering how crowded it was, maybe that's a good thing.

My husband and I just enjoyed an excellent dinner here. The ambience is old school elegance, comfortable seating, subtle lighting, quiet, romantic...very, very nice. We just happened to be there on a Sunday evening. The wine is half price on Sunday and Monday and they offer a four course price fix menu before 6 pm. I ordered the veal cannelloni. My husband had the chicken marsala. The soup of the day was a seafood chowder, which was very good. I had the stuffed artichoke for my salad that was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered the wedge salad, also excellent. Our entrees were again, very good. We were quite satisfied, but couldn't resist the dessert, a delicious bread pudding and a carrot cake. Both my husband and I are very picky about desserts, but these were so good that we enjoyed them till they were completely gone. Our waiter was personable and attentive. It was just a very enjoyable meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

This place came highly recommended by a discriminating friend so off we went. I was extremely disappointed. We sat at a table near the musicians and it took over 25 mins to get a server to come to the table and it wasn't even crowded. A server nearby spent a lot of time chatting w/her table which were obviously friends/acquaintances and ignored us. By the time a server came I was not in the mood to order a drink so I asked for water, my date asked for a beer. It took a while to bring his beer and she said my water was coming later, which she brought about 10 mins after the beer, then said it was bottled because there was a two drink minimum. The music was nice but he took many breaks. We stayed for a while and even danced a little but it was hard to get past the terrible service. We left there and went to the Yard House which had great service and great food. I would NOT recommend the Nest nor do I have plans on returning. Our service was terrible, ambiance was so so and music was just ok.

This place is every bit as incredible as the other reviewers say it is. The crowd is ridiculous. Cute elderly couples shamelessly making out on the dancefoor, terrified businessmen in golf shirts, drunk 20-somethings who got lost on the way to Costas, and a bunch of old dogs hitting on them. Oh, and the classy ladies... are they still called "cougars" if they qualify for senior discounts? Do dress up a bit. You won't get kicked out or anything if you don't, but my girlfriend and I were pretty underdressed in jeans next to the glammed-up older patrons. Four stars only because it shuts down around midnight. The bartender was fantastic about it and gave us a list of nearby places to go. I want to live here when I'm old and crusty in 60-odd years. Please experience this for yourself.

Wow, you'd never know The Nest was so fun from looking at the building. Inside it was packed with baby-boomers dancing, singing and tipping a few cocktails. Great place fun time. I have no idea if the food is as great as the entertainment.

Wow. I just got a glimpse of my hopeful senior citizen nightlife. My Ferrari being parked right out in front of the entrance by the careful young valet boys. My plasticky ex-wife from my third marriage proudly clinging to my right arm. The 50 year old barbie doll hostess winking at me before taking us to our table. Before the pianist playing my favorite song, I'd bump knuckles with him as I pass by. The bartender personally delivering my overly strong (in a good way) crown seven that was knick-named after me because of what happened at NYE bash of 2047. And the cocktails, wow the cocktails, they would be as potent as the four pack of viagra in my left pants pocket. After the crowds cheer me on to sing that old classic song that mention the boots with the furrrrr, I'd recharge my bionic leg and get my freak on with my lady on the dancefloor. When the night is almost at its end, I'll return to my Italian chariot to take my date home. I'll pop the first half of my viagra fun pack and then connect connect both our nipples to a car battery. That way, we can make like rabbid bunnies and end the night proper. Of course, she'll kick me out at 3am because I'll have made the mistake of moaning out my 2nd ex-wife's name instead of hers. Damn senility. It gets you every time. Crap, did I also forget my credit card at the bar again?

This is where the old people go at the end of the movie "Cocoon". This place is so fabulous. I got nauseous watching a guy hit on my mother, though. I really wanted to write a review as fabulous at the Nest is, but Dave G & Jay B beat me to it.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I just have this huge soft spot for The Nest. If they made t-shirts, I would def buy one. I have been here a handful of times and it never disappoints. I always arrive with the party anyway, so it doesn't matter where we are at....but this place is so fun. The piano isn't really a piano,...but who cares. Sing along and make *winks* at the piano player. Thanks to Jerry for giving me a birthday spin around the dance floor that only a true gentleman can do! It was like Dancing with the Stars in the 50's.

Oh What a night...Late December in 08. My family came here on boxing day, we arrive at 7:00 and the place is filling up with the over 50 to 80 crowd. There folks are here to party the night away. Disco ball in place, show time. The bartender is super nice, and the waitresses are funny and on top of every ones needs. The up drinks are doubles and after 3 martinis in quick succession, one of us needed to eat BADLY. I am not sure what was said to the hostess, but she looked scared when she seated us, so I am sorry hostess lady for what ever rudeness my drunken companion may have said to you. I order the soup, salad bread choice, he ordered the fillet medium rare with crab cake. The soup was white bean and is served from a iron cauldron into your own mini cauldrons. The soup was exceptional, and the four rolls my companion ate soaked up that gin rightly. The salad was crisp and cool, the dressing tasty. Once the main course was served my drunken friend had already felt the need to move on to the dance floor so I had the sweet waitress box it up and took it to go. Seems this wasn't the first time this situation had occurred. Sadly I ended up feeding the meat to our doggie who was patiently waiting for us in the hotel room. It was however perfectly cooked and the crab cake and potatoes looked and smelled delicious. The carrots and zucchini I ate and were cooked well. Onward to the dance floor. While my sisters danced with portly older gentlemen (who had their hands firmly planted on their behinds), I was lucky enough to be freaked by drunkie and was greatly humored to watch him try to do the Thriller dance to Billy Jean. Top form JRo, this was a fork in the pocket night for you. And for my sister...she said "this is where I am going to be in 20 years isn't it?" Yes dear sis, it is. golf cart and all. So fun. Make sure to have a designated driver or walk.

This place is great in every way! Food, atmosphere, service, fun, price!!! The menu has something for everyone. This is our favorite restaurant. The owners could not be more gracious and humble. Four stars for fun times, fun times. As long as you keep in mind the demographics of the desert are predominantly retirees and know that you're going to a bar where the patrons smell like moth balls, you'll do fine. There's a "piano" that is in the middle of the establishment, so that kinda makes it difficult to walk through the room when the geriatrics are grinding. The beverages are decent, but no fru-fru "specialty" drink menus to select from. The music is eclectic and often an oldie, but goodie is played so you can join in.

oh my god, i went here for valentines day probably 4 or 5 years ago. I was probably around 18 and paired up with my now ex's parents. The waitress was old and sassy carded me and still brought me some vodka gimlets that would make your grandpa proud. All I remember is being drunk and feeling too young and scantily clad for the masses of elder people.

So I was hungry and totally clueless on where to get a good meal in Indian Wells last weekend. I drove by this restaurant called THE NEST, and from the outside, it looked like it would be an "upscale coffee shop". Instead, when I went in, I found a cool bar, a nice "mezzanine" for the bar to the left, and a nice-enough restaurant atmosphere to my right. I was quickly and warmly greeted and seated. A fresh wedge salad came before my meal, and then when the main course came (I CAN'T REMEMBER the veal dish, but it was tangy, in pasta, and had a slight lemony hint), I dug into some very well-prepared food. What most impressed me about this place was the service. The owner came up and asked how I was doing, and I let her know how great she was running the place. It's customer base is clearly the 50 and over crowd. So if you want to dance and drink at the bar, be prepared to dance it up to Billy Ocean, and other 80's songs. played by the live band. It's a great place to stop, and honestly worth the drive even from Palm Springs, which is about a 20 minute drive down the 111 on a non-traffic day.

there's hope!! you may be 70 years old, lady, but you still got it - in that outfit, those earrings, that make-up - this is the best place to get a drink in indian wells - had a delicious 7 and 7, good steak - enormous dinner. I like hanging out with fun, older slightly tipsy folks - lots of hars, hars and table slapping - they have the best stories and the men are still gentlemanly enough to buy a young lady a drink

The Nest (aka Grab-a-granny) is the hottest spot in Indian Wells. Everyone who's anyone knows that life, after 5pm, begins at The Nest. My family and friends usually go twice/year...once for my mums birthday and once for mine. Back in the day, The Nest was a hot spot for Sinatra and his cronies; these days, it's a hot spot for the single and lookin' Palm Springs crowd. Though the place is a little run down, don't even think about going casual -- patrons dress up in their best finery, ready to strut their stuff on the dance floor like peacocks displaying their plumage. In terms of atmosphere, think Casablanca, with huge rattan fans above the bar and umbrellas in the drinks. After dinner, make your way to the piano bar / cocktail lounge and be prepared to dance the night away (and by night, I mean until at least 10pm). Singer/Piano player, Tim Burleson has been entertaining guests nightly since 1993. According to Tim, "The Nest provides a warm, friendly, atmosphere which is very conducive to everyone joining in and participating. I have percussion-type items such as shakers, and maracas, which I pass out, and anyone can become part of the show!" Indeed! Regulars, such as the awesome Neil Diamond impersonator who was there last Christmas, often show up and sing a few songs for the crowd. It's soooo continental. Do yourself a favour and check out The Nest on your next trip to Indian Wells. I think Bogart and Bergman said it best... Rick: Here's looking at you, kid. Ilsa: [smiles] I wish I didn't love The Nest so much.

This place is pretty hipster-tastic, espech if you like chilling with old people. The nest is located on highway 111 in between palm desert and la quinta/indio/coachella, so it was only a matter of time before i checked it out on one of my semi-annual jaunts to the desert. We went for the dinner, not the bar scene. Dinner was good- it was most notably for the cauldron of vegetable soup they served us- enough soup for 6-8 people. The scene was- um- elderly- but a cool kind of elderly.

Coming here was more for entertainment value than anything else. The crowd here is seriously OLD. Like 70+ old. (That's not an exxageration.) Funny though because they've decided it's not holding them back so they're definitely having a good time. And they're not shy about asking for dances from women 40+ years younger than them. Gotta give it up for that, I suppose...

This place is HEAVEN ON EARTH (and for many, the final stop before Heaven)! Sexy seniors as far as the eye can see -- drinking, dancing and partying like it's 1979. It's like going to the Pirates Cove lounge on the Love Boat. Swank seating, 55-yo cocktail waitresses in one-shoulder-strap dresses, the most heavenly band singing "Disco Inferno" in a non-ironic loungy drawl, horndog hotties on the hunt for geriatric love. I felt like I was dropped in the middle of a Key Party. The $5 beers were a small price to pay for the amazing times we had. And even though they don't have a parking lot, the VALET IS FREE! I LOVE THIS BAR. THE HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION I CAN GIVE!

This was our first experience at The Nest....great place and food! What a fun atmosphere, and it was great seeing everyone there having such a great time! AND the NY Strip was as good as I've had at some of the high-end steakhouses, and you got much more for your money. We will definitely return to The Nest on our next trip to the Palm Springs area. If the experience is the same then.....I'm bumping it up to 5 stars!!

Love The Nest when Tim B. is at the piano. Hopefully the new owners will acknowledge that the crowds are there because of him! I have been taking my mom there for years and we always have a great time. I recently heard the new owner is now singing, and is very boring. I plan to go there in a few weeks and hopefully Tim will be playing. If not, we will probably leave.

If you go with the proper mindset, you should have a lot of fun at this place. My friends and I were the youngest at the bar by about 10 years, but that only added to the entertainment value. This place is serious about shaking its collective groove thing. The bartender was intent on keeping the good times rolling -- quality pours for all. The paid live entertainment was pretty good -- a piano player and a couple vocalists, but the best entertainment was the crowd. They ranged in age from 40ish to 70s -- but geriatric this crowd WAS NOT. If you were ever curious about what your blue-haired great aunt looked like when she was cutting loose on one of her bus trips to Laughlin, check this place out. My only regret is that we didn't start a conga line when they started playing "Hot Hot Hot"...

Comfortable and fun. Now that Dodi and Kevin have it; there is a newer vibe. While I am "older" I feel this is now a hip place that appeals to 30's and up and the twain meet easily. Renovations have made the bar/dance/lounge area seem more New York loft instead of dusty/moldy plastic plants and old news. As always, Tim keeps the place going with his spectacular music of new tunes, old tunes, showtunes, rock 'n roll, etc., along with his guest performer's Chuck Ayala (his Unchained Melody rendition keeps me coming back just to hear that) and now Kevin (the owner) who does a fierce Marvin Gaye set...it's truly a fun, sort of comfy neighborhood spot to go. Women can go here alone just fine; the valets will look out for you and your car; the prices are ok and it's truly a fun spot. Mega dancing, mega fun spot. One negative is music is too loud for the size of the place....please, turn down the volume; we hear you.

Being from Minneapolis, and familiar with Esquire magazine's best bar in America 2006 , Nye's Polonais Room, I had heard about The Nest as being similar in atmosphere and wanted to check it out. The truth is, I loved it even more than Nye's. The music is a mix of Neil Diamond, The Bee Gees, Sinatra, and Michael Jackson, all played to a Lawrence Welk crowd who damn well want to get down! I told my wife that when she and her girlfriends walk into this place it will cause pandemonium. A girl in this place is gonna dance, and a guy better plan on it because he's also going to be asked too. A WWII vet came up and shook my hand (hard) and said he just left the hospital a week before after having a stroke. He didn't seem slowed down at all, and danced with several ladies his age and 40 or 50 years younger. A greater mix of ages you will not see anywhere else. In The Coachella Valley, you gotta experience The Nest.

Awesome! The Nest is like going back in time ~ being transported to another era with live piano bar music. We go here each time we come to the desert and walk away satisfied. There are older folks there dressed up and it's pretty groovy. The food is great, love the soup and dishes. Service was excellent. This last time we went with our toddler and they just catered to him.

same after reading the reviews we decided to try it out. Sunday evening dinner reservations at 7pm. arrived at 6:40 dinning room 80-90% full. met and greeted by owner Dodi. she checked our resverations and made us feel like VIP. asked if this was our first time we said yes. she said great welcome. we chatted a little she took our drink orders then we had a great meal with equally great service. dinning room is a bit small however the tables are spaced in a way where you have plenty of room and privacy. great service and the food wow..at the end of the meal we had a surprise Dodi had comped our drinks. wow again.. the bar area and dancing area next to the dinning room had many people. we were so stuffed after dinner we did not go to the bar area. for sure next time. dinning crowd ages was between 40 to 60 years of age. the ages in the bar area looked to be mid 30's to 40's. overall a great little spot. do not let the outside fool you the inside is what matters. enjoy..till next time.

Went to the Nest last Saturday night with my wife while vacationing in Palm Springs for the week. We are both in our mid 50's and had heard that this was the hot place to go to in the desert. My wife read the reviews about the Nest being a pick up place and decided to dress very sexy for the evening and see if she got hit on. We got there about 7 and we were escorted to our table by a hot 50 something hostess who commented on my wife's low cut (and short!) dress. I think the waiter enjoyed the view too as he asked if we wanted a picture of us taken by him. After a great dinner we went into the bar and I excused myself to go to the restroom. A minute later I came back to find my wife being hit on by a 30 something stud who obviously thought she was a cougar! After a couple laughs with him and a drink we headed out for the night. My wife can't stop talking about being hit on and keeps asking when we will go back. The entertainment and the crowd were great...we will be back. I wonder what she'll wear the next time?

stay away. the restaurant was recently bought by dodi and kevin. dodi worked there like 20 yrs ago and she looks it. apparently she failed customer service training. the food sucked, the service sucked, and there attitudes were beyond belief.. they will ruin the reputation of this restaurant/bar in no time at all. they fail to understand the attraction is for comic relief. the people there are all jokes who seem to think their shit doesnt stink. what a joke.. been going there along time, but with the new owners, i paid my last visit... try cougars further west on 111 in palm desert.... these people will learn a hard expensive lesson, and will be well deserved.. stttttttttay awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

So I went to this bar while on a mini-vaca last weekend with not much idea of where I was going. Little did I know that I would have the best night ever, better than any other night out I've had in a long time. The drinks were stiff which is always great, and the music was awesome. The piano man played older songs maybe 80s and older music while 40-50 something year-olds danced away on the dance floor. Not to mention, there were definitely older men that were HOTT and so much better than the 20 something year-olds I'm used to hanging with. This place is a must go to! Definitely a great place to let loose with a great drink while dancing to oldies:) By the way, this is the only place I've ever given 5 stars!

Not so entertaining anymore. Things have changed and that wind of change The Nest talks about is not all good. I brought a group of friends and colleagues to The Nest last night and the changes made by the new owners are a mixed bag. THE GOOD: The food has been greatly improved and the new chef has created a diverse menu that will satisfy anyone in your group. The decor however is boring white with 80's inspired track lighting. It clashes with the old brick walls and colored windows. The old Italian style decor was better able to incorporate the existing architecture. Service was excellent however and we all enjoyed our meals. The duck and the filet were delicious. THE BAD: The entertainment is not the same. If you enjoyed the unique mix of music offered by the talented piano player you will be disappointed. He has taken the backseat to a new singer who has no personality and never banters with the audience between songs. He can sing but he is boring when compared to the talented keyboardist who has been there for years and personifies The Nest. The evening was fun but definitely not as fun as it has been in the past when there was a wide variety of musical guests. I also noticed the place emptied out fairly early. Maybe it was an off night. The Nest is worth trying, but Melvyn's may be a better choice for people who want an old school piano bar if last night was indication of changes to come.

is this what partying in palm spring is like? i've never been so i don't know. it was senior citizens galor....along with a rude lady who was upset that i sat in her seat. my bad lady... but geez do grannys/grandpas know how to party. i've never seen so much canoodling by senior citizens. i agree with AJ K....i hope i'm having as much fun as they were when i'm their age. the man playing the piano wasn't horrible, but all the alternating between fast songs and slow songs was confusing my already too-much-alcohol-in-the-head mood. and the (non-hispanic) old lady singing the songs in spanish? all i heard was mumbling. our group was a double miss this crowded saturday night. asian AND under the age of 65. boohoo....

This place was great! Fun, old school and a ton of food! The food wasn't bad either. Linguine with clams, delish. My husband's shrimp scampi, not so good. Very sweet which isn't how I normally eat shrimp but whatever. Service was excellent with great wine selection. Although it was filled with the "early crowd" (dinner at 5pm types) didn't deter from a good time. I think it livens up a little later.

After reading the reviews of this place, I had to check it out on a recent trip to the desert. And it didn't disappoint. I guess that the best way to describe it is like the finale of Dirty Dancing, you know, after Johnny and Baby wow everyone with their dancing? And then all the formerly stodgy old people decide that maybe bumping and grinding isn't so bad and they all start shaking their booties? Yeah, it's like that. It's like that with a faux piano that's really a synthesizer and stiff drinks. I couldn't believe how much game some of those grannies had, but I had a great time at The Nest. I hope I'm just as spry in 50 years.

This place is truly a kick!! I'll start with the restaurant- the food is good. Entrees come with a salad and a cauldron of soup (it was vegetable when I was there and was very tasty!); warm fresh bread and butter; (and according to the menu, a napkin and a warm handshake- I did get the napkin!) The menu is billed as Italian & French, and sure enough they offer pasta & veal picata along with escargot and frogs legs. Prices are reasonable. I had chicken parmesean and it was very good. Now for the show- the menu has a copy of an article describing the bar scene as being popular with the "over 40 crowd". That's like saying that the Teletubbies are popular with the "under 20 crowd". I'm over 40 and I felt like a mere baby. The piano bar is manned by a talented singer/pianist (it's really an electronic keyboard), who was accompanied by a truly talented trumpeter on a recent Saturday night. The geriatric dance floor and pick-up scene left a lasting (and mostly not unpleasant) impression on me. Definately a place to go for a memorable change of pace!

Wow, the old folks at the Nest sure know how to have a good time on a Saturday night. Actually, there were a range of ages present. The band, and the crowd, were very high energy. Lots of fun.
